| I think this song is about a relationship where the singer feels like his lover is really in love one of her former lovers "Kisses are never safe when residue of old love is left how could I feel lesser when someone better walks around / waiting for you to call out " And he develops this inferiority complex because he thinks he can never live up to her former lover. "As your cold hand grasps mine I feel unright and privileged to be able to look in your eyes". This makes him depressed "Crying to sleep is my remedy urgently trying to stand on broken / confused legs". But in the end he decides he's being over dramatic and decides ignorance is bliss "Am I looking for reasons not to be happy emotions catch up with me / I'm too fast for them". | |

| I think this song is about a break up with someone who knows its comming, and cant be true to anyone else because he cant let go.("Kisses are never safe when residue of old love is left "). Even though he subconciously knows girl is not interested in him he is blinded by his love for her("As your cold hand grasps mine I feel unright and privileged to be able to look in your eyes"). And he got a letter confirming that("Deformed fingers leave trails of hearts in writing could three words be the end to births only meaning"). He trys to move on even though he really hasnt.! | ok this song is definitely about just breaking upwith someone and then going on the rebound. "Kisses are never safe when residue of old love is left..." kissing the rebound girl is not good cuz hes still getting over the other girl. "emotions catch up wtih mr, but im to fast for them" his emotions of from the last girl are still there, but hes now with the other girl who he is only with to get over the old one. | |

| dude im glad you love the fuckin song but its called song meanings...like what the words to the song means ya know? i kind of think when he says "how could I feel lesser when someone better walks around" he means like maybe that he likes someone, someone from his past but the person has met someone else that means alot to them. like time changes everything...and after a while feelings go away but they come back like "emotions catch up with me" like there's still feelings and they never really went away, they were just pushed aside | |
