After that there is a part only with synth and bass and at last another part with
distortion guitar, which is exactly the same with the intro!
NOTES
1. The dotts above some notes mean that you have to play them with vibrato!
It's not a difficult song except from the intro and the outro,
which are played fast enough, so...
HAVE FUN!

| i thought this song was about rape? all the pieces fit any way. 'its so erotic when your make up runs' 'a few minutes with me inside my van, should be so beautiful if we can, im feeling something taking over me'. it just seems to be all about rape. anyone agree? | |

| In case you didn't know, In Absentiais a theme album about a serial killer. I think that this song among others tries to capture the serial killer's train of thought. For example "Ive got people underneath my bed, I've got books that never ever end" possibly relates to a torturer/serial killer such as the BTK killer | |

| The correct lyrics are still weak. I bought in Abstentia because a progressive rock website said it was similar to Pink Floyd and other Prog bands I like, which turned out to not be the case at all. Oh well, that was a waste of a fair bit of money. | |

| Really Supplanter? I'm not quite sure how you reach that conclusion. I do agree the song is about mental illness, but I also think it's about rape: "I will try Something in the trees that made you cry It's so erotic when your makeup runs." "I got wiring loose inside my head," "I got secrets in my garden shed," "A few minutes with me inside my van Should be so beautiful if we can" "I'm feeling something taking over me" Maybe I'm way off the mark though... | |

| I believe that the song is the tale of a boy who grows up and discovers that there's something unusual about him. Blackest Eyes is the most upbeat song on the entire album In Absentia. I agree that there are several hints that might be taken that the song is about rape or murder, but I really don't think that Steve Wilson is so cynical that he could package this kind of content in such a joyful wrapper! The song is positively bursting out with energy. I've always thought that the story is told by a boy or young man whose whole life is ahead of him, but who starts finding unusual things about him, and strange desires are coming out. He tries to understand himself and recognizes that something is wrong ("I got wiring loose inside my head"), but he is still optimistic and full of energy and believes that eventually everything will be all right. So what is told in the second and third verse is actually what he is imagining, not something that's already happened. Also, it might not be rape or murder per se, but the boy is beginning to realize what he is prepared to do to satisfy his desires. It's clouds on the horizon and a glimpse of the future, but the boy is still young, innocent, and optimistic. I believe the songs on the album are sequenced to give an impression of a man who is sinking deeper as he grows older. It would then be logical to assume that the first song is also related to the earliest period in life. | |

| The song is a snapshot of the mind of a serial killer. It is upbeat because it is taken from the point of view of the deranged killer, to which everything seems normal. If you raise the volume, you will hear a second layer of vocals in a more scratchy and deeper voice. This is the real dark and scary voice of the serial killer. "It's so erotic when your makeup runs" refers to the victim crying before his eyes. However, to the serial killer's twisted mind, it's a beautiful and erotic sight. The chorus refers to bodies or trophies of victims in his garden shed, books he read but misinterpreted, scars he'd gotten accomplishing his sexual misdeeds. It's a messed up song, but sang and played beautifully to paint the normalcy of actions seen through the eyes of the killer. | |

| This song has so many layers. And most of them are beautifully sadistic. "It's so erotic when your makeup runs" Gets me every time. | |
