Posies Biography

Band Picture

The Posies are an American alternative rock group. The band formed in 1986 in Bellingham, Washington, broke up in 2000, then reformed in 2004. They are best known for their radio hits "Golden Blunders" (from Dear 23), as well as "Dream All Day" and "Flavor of the Month" (from Frosting on the Beater). The band is currently signed to Rykodisc.

After releasing a tape and vinyl only version of "Failure", The original Posies, Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, toured as an acoustic duo, mostly on the Seattle area University Circuit.

The band has frequently been compared to The Hollies due to their vocal harmonies and Big Star due to the quality of their songwriting. One of the band's mainstays, Ken Stringfellow, regularly tours with R.E.M., and his solo albums have been the more experimental of the band's side projects. Jon Auer's solo releases reside more in the power pop tradition. Auer has also had some success as a producer.
