Hindley Street is the Red Light District in Adelaide. It is also home to some dodgy backpacker places.

Come on guys, it's not that hard! He's in a hotel room, and he's an artist, so what does that suggest to you? He's TOURING! Todd Street Mall is in Alice Springs. A gentle winter haze might be found in Canberra. Hindley Street would definitely be refering to Adelaide. And where else would you find a western ocean breeze but in Perth? So, this is a song about touring around the country, in an album called, funnily enough, Internationalist. "Twenty-five in thirty days makes this one feel like home" - he's been moving around so much that wherever he is feels like home. "Why should I complain when everybody else is overworked and underpaid" - the creature comforts aren't the best, but it's pretty good compared to other jobs. "Days keep rolling over" - every day on tour feels just like the last. "Escape to the undercover" - he's becoming more and more famous, so he doesn't mind the shelter of his hotel room. "Soon it will all be over, and we can start again" - when the tour's finished they'll start songwriting again.

I live in Adelaide too, Hindley Street is reagarded as the "druggie" part of the city. I would'nt know if it was the red light district, I have never been there at night. This could be in Adelaide, but I have never heard of a Todd Street in Adelaide. Add to that Hinley Street is nowhere near the ocean...

Hehe, I always thought '25 in thirty days' meant that he was turning 25 in a months' time. Duh! I guess that shows how song lyrics can be interpreted differntly by everyone. :)

I live in adelaide and hindley street is known as one of the dodgier parts of the city. although it's a bit suss, i think it has a certain culture and life to it. I love this song, the na na nas make it a great one for a drunken sing along with your friends

i completely agree with Frog Man bout the touring thing Ps- Ruddy 'not everything revolves around adelaide'?? NOTHING revolves around adelaide- for the love of god let us have a lil glory, even if it is two words of a relatively unknown song lol

haha anyone from adelaide sorta can understand this song - i mean hindley st after midnight is not a friendly place. but they have to settle for it - because 25 gigs in thirty days means any place is home. i love the end - soon it will all be over (the touring) and we can start again, again.

Also, Powderfinger are a brisbane band why would they write a song about the red light district in Adelaide?

Hindley St is SO freaky. I hate walking down there, even in the middle of the day. I love the line: "Why should I complain when everybody else is overworked and underpaid"
