It's about the Gulf War. "So that we may maintain our oil fields." It's a protest against the complete pointlessness of sending our young soldiers to Saudi Arabia just to get a bit more shite to ruin the world.

I think the song is about young men that have their whole life ahead of them and then getting sent to war and dying. Maybe about Vietnam.

A quick note, this is the first song Les wrote for Primus back in 1984, so this song is not about the Gulf War, as Python thought. This was before he got any of his super-nice Carl Thompson basses also. The lyric "On the command of men wearing money belts/to buy mistresses sleek animal pelts" I believe alludes to how the rich corporations/aristocrats and politicians are separated from the theatre of war and send in the next crop of clueless youth to fight wars. "Dressed up sharp in suits of green and placed upon the war machine" has got to be the most powerful of Claypool's lyrics cause it's got real punch to it.
