	Urm...no. Stripped to its base (not bass ;) ) it's about a passionate but tumultuous and equally abusive relationship (one that reflects the singer's parents' relationship). Just like it was in the movie (Purple Rain).

	this song was used in romeo and juliet, and i think it was perfect. it's really about two people that are stuck in the middle of things surrounding them.

	i think this song is amazing. but does anyone know the song that the boy sings in romeo and juliet when there getting married it starts off like "brother and sister together we'll make it through..." ahh someone help its so good.

	Haha. I heard a cover of this song done by the Barenaked Ladies. It was really good. I haven't heard the original, actually. I also heard it in Romeo and Juliet. That made me laugh a bit. Because the church choir sang it.

	amazing song aside, this reminds me of the Simpsons when Milhouse meets the Shelbyville Milhouse and they lament in the pain of being the only Milhouses, and he goes "So this is what it feels like....when doves cry."

	This song is about inheriting the worst qualities of your parents. Prince wanted a song for a particular scene in the movie, and he quickly threw something together. That "throwing together" turned out to be an amazing song.

	when doves cry... it's a really sad metaphor when you think about it... something so beautiful that represents peace is mourning... a perfect love is destroyed... at least that's how i take it to mean.
