Song: Your Heroes Are Dead
Artist: Project 86
Album: Truthless Heroes
Copyright 2002 Atlantic/Tooth And Nail
Tabber: sonofreagan@myway.com
I'm not entirely sure of the intro. It sounds like some harmonics with a tremolo effect,
unlike Me Vs Me.
1. Verse chord progression. Listen to CD for the rhythm, which is used in both the verse
and chorus.

G---------------------------------------------------------------|
D--0--3--0--8--5------------------------------------------------|
A--0--3--0--8--5------------------------------------------------|
D--0--3--0--8--5------------------------------------------------|
2. Pre-chorus riff. A phaser effect comes in on the 5x7 octave. Listen to the CD for
on the octaves. 5x7 is hit about
8 times downpicked, and the rest are hit like 4 times, both up and down picked.

G------------------7--10--7--9--12--14--------------------------|

A--3-3-xxx-3-3-xxx-5--8---5--7--10--12--------------------------|
D------xxx-----xxx----------------------------------------------|
3. Chorus Rhythm track. The rhythm is just about the same as the verse, except the 7, or
powerchord is hit up and down
rapidly. There are 2 tracks for the chorus. One is the powerchord progression, the other
an octave thing. I can only hear
the Powerchord, which is what is below. An "A" octave begins playing rapidly on the
track when the 3, or F, powerchord
starts playing.

D--0--8--3--7--|
A--0--8--3--7--|
D--0--8--3--7--|
4. At the end of the first chorus, this is played before the verse starts back up

A--3-3-xxx--3-3-xxx--|

5. The breakdown before the solo. It's done with a phaser. Not sure about the slide.

6. The solo. This one is fun. Play it through twice.

D----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
7. Solo to Pre-chorus fill is just an A powerchord (7th fret) played a few times.
8. Prechorus number 2. After the solo, the pre-chorus is played once, then this is played
e---------------------------------------|
B---------------------------------------|
G---------------------------------------|
D--5-5-xxx-7-7-xxx-9-9-xxxx-10-10-12-12-|
A--3-3-xxx-5-5-xxx-7-7-xxxx-8--8--10-10-|
D------xxx-----xxx-----xxxx-------------|
9. The song then goes back to the chorus, then the solo, then this outro. The last thing
is a harmonic.

| *read my comment in Little Green Men to catch up* Stan returns to his hometown after being gone for several months(years?) and finds his family in total ruin. All the people(the "heroes") that his family follow'd have let them down, while his hero(God) is still going strong with him. This part is him confronting his parents/peers. "You said I'd never make it That I could only fail But I'm the one who's standing And what has happened to you? Now that we're left here on our own There's nowhere left to turn He will see us through Now that we say goodbye to you We've started something new Your heroes are dead, they're all in your head When nothing is left we'll start again Your heroes are gone, they left with the dawn Now it's just us, we'll carry on " | |

| One of my personal favorites by P86. This song is satire all the way around, and is a very hard one to completely get a grasp on, but I shall try. The first verse is about how people will turn against their heroes at the drop of a hat. One mistake and the lynch mob shows up ready to hang the once worshipped leader. Perhaps even a church congregation? The second verse, I believe, is a big time play on "fearless fathers" and "dollars", meaning the men whose faces are on our money all died and now most of what they fought for is mocked by the very money on which their faces are printed. Overall, the song is about how people are only satisfied with a "hero" when things are going well, and they will change their mind at the drop of a hat, including those who follow God. Our hero may have died, but he rose again! | |
