ahhh there are no comments!!!! man...project is such an awesome band...especially this song, i can totally picture it live. I love the You're the only home I know part, because there are times when everyone and everything you know sort of turn away from you and you realize that God is all you have, but He's also all you need. God is so awesome.

I love the desperation on Schwab's voice in the chorus. I also the love the pure humility found in the line "When every word you ever said came true, all I missed in all of this was you." How many of us can relate to that? Realizing we've got this Christian "thing" down when really we haven't even caught the tip of the iceburg. the song gives me goosebumps

I agree with what everyone's said but i think he could even be referring to the rapture. Like in the verses, he's talking like he's a christian going through the motions, attending church, but not really having a relationship with god, never really found faith himself. e.g: "I never learned to walk the surface on my own" Then Jesus returns, and it all becomes clear to him and he realises what's happened. "When every word you ever said came true All I missed in all of this was you." And the bridge just to me shows further he's been left behind. "So take me in these fleeting moments of solitude in you" Everyone's gone and he embracing Jesus' sacrifice and asking him to be with him through the "fleeting" 7 years of tribulation. Like I said, bit different, but that's how I interpret it. Love Project! Cheers for another great song Andy!

i think the shadow refers to all these problems mentioned in the verses, and their pulling him away from God. "Can you see a shadow on me?Calling me to leave." Because at the end its "Can you see the shadow lifting drifiting home again...." and when it says "drifting home" its refering him going back to God "You're the only home I know" --i really like this song i especially like how musicly incorrect it is on purpose -when Schwab sings hes really off key. but it gives the song a uniqueness and makes it song more ernest and desprit. its good

i totally agree w/ pnew that this song is about Christians who have been a Christian for so long and they go thru the motions, but in the end they have missed out on the real meaning of Christianity, and that is to be one with Christ.

from a question-and-answer chat session: > PAXboarder13: how would you word a definition of "a shadow"...ie a shadow on me? > Schwab: noun. 1. A relentless follower of P86 for at least two shows in a row, for a distance of over 5 hours in travel via motor vehicle. 2. Gray tone on human form from invisible cloud hanging overhead due to sullen spirit. Only visible to creator.

I think sirsteven is right. I also think that in the beginning he is talking about living here on earth in sin "like forgery and larceny and my ill-gained revelry." But at the same time being a "religious church-goer" in "i recite these scripted lines..all i missed in all of this was you." he is missing out on knowing God and abusing forgiveness. THen he is realizing God calling him to leave that type of life and recieve his promises.

well idk guys it seems like hes talking about when he wasnt saved...well i mean him looking back on his life after getting saved and he loved to party hard in all that "but all i missed in all of it was You" it should be capitalized its talking about God

"Can you see (You're the only home I know) A shadow on me calling me to leave." In 2 Corinthians 5 it says how we are just living here in "tent" and that we groan to be in heaven where we belong. It's like we were made to live with God and he is the "shadow on me calling me to leave." Until then though we still need to live loving Christian lives.
