| After listening a few more times, I guess I can hear the "F-F-Famous as well". That and, the more I listen, the more I tend to think it's "playboy bunnies" not "favorite buddies". I can't hear "look up and it's happened" either, but I can't make out what he actually says. | |

| IIt's about alll these people wanting to be famous, and it's explaining what famous is being like. "I just wanna be famouse,be so fucken jaded." Show up at the oscars look up and it's happened. Is probly meaning you win awards. You Want It You Got It,It's Every Thing You Dreamed. The money is for nothing and the chicks are for free. But it might mean that famous people crash and burn sometimes too, "And I hope that it's everything that you dreamed about, Be careful what you wish for, Hope that it's everything that you dreamed, When everything's fallin' apart at the seams," | |

| Does nobody here realize that there's a direct quote from a Dire Straits song in here? I almost wonder if they put it in as a joke: PoM, "Famous": "The money is for nothing and the chicks are for free" Dire Straits, "Money for Nothing": "That aint workin thats the way you do it Money for nothin and chicks for free" There's way too many different ways to say "get paid for sitting on my ass and have girls all over me" for that to be a coincidence. By the way the Nickelback "Rockstar" song isn't about what it's like to be a rockstar. It's a song about the difference between wealth and happiness, and how getting what you want often means you have to give up something in the process... Often, in finding wealth and fame, you lose your own sense of self. When you wind up at the top and look around... It's never as great as you thought it would be. "Cut my hair and change my name..." "We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat" "Get washed-up singers writin' all my songs" If you can't see the sarcasm in that song, there's something wrong with you. This song takes a similar tact. It seems much less sarcastic and cynical, focusing less on the negative aspects of stardom, yet even here PoM includes a word of caution: "Be careful what you wish for Hope that it's everything you dreamed When everything is fallin' apart at the seams" Don't lose yourself in the life you've created, because dreams stop being dreams when they become reality. In life, every fortune comes at a price - don't pay for it with your happiness. It's something you can never buy back. Sorry about the loaded cliche, but that's what it is. Besides that, rockstars don't make that much money, contrary to popular belief. In fact, signed music artists tend to make between 9-20% of the retail price of a CD for each album sold, depending on popularity (more popular artists get less money). Even if you go gold, selling half a million units, at a retail price of $20 the artist only makes $900,000. (A platinum record will score you around $1.8 million). Considering that it takes most artists several years to make an album, and most never go gold (and almost none go platinum) that means a rockstar has an average salary between $200,000 and $300,000 a year, plus a portion of concert ticket sales, minus expenses. Considering that you write on the road and you're constantly touring, rockstars also have an extremely difficult job, especially during concert season. Often, they often play two shows, one day and 5,000 miles apart (talk about jet lag...) If music is really what you love to do, making it is a great job option. But the lifestyle also doesn't really make much in the way of saving for retirement. Most stars burn out around the age of 35, which leaves an average of 40 more years for a human male. If you only make $250,000, you blow it all on drugs, alcohol and fancy shit, and you wind up with nothing when your producer doesn't sign you anymore. Doctors, business executives, scientific engineers, and even a lot of office jobs make more money, not to mention provide a lot better for the future. Anyway, it's not as hot as people think, and that's what Nickelback and PoM are saying. Be sure that you're playing for the music and your dreams, not for the money and the life of a rockstar because it just ain't that great. | |

| Weak song. Sounds too much like the LOD stuff I didn't like. Instead of doing something good, like "Blurry" or something, they keep coming off like Super-Nickleback. 3 Doors Down did it too. | |

| As someone as said, Puddle of Mudd took the high society feel of Nickelback's "Rockstar" and did it 10 times better. I'm not necessarily a HUGE fan of either band, but I'll definitely be giving their new album a listen, because I enjoy this song a ton. Am I the only on, though, who hears, rather than "f-f-famous" at the end, "I fucking hate myself"? | |

| it is playboy bunnies! thats obvious if you just listen, the "F" sound would sound different even through the windscreen they use in recording. compare the "F" in FAMOUS to the "F" in favorite, they should sould very similar and they dont! and the look up and its happened is NOT that! i think for the song to flow it would make the most sense to say "Get up to the top and" and i hear that! because once youre up to the top, youre loaded to the hilt so you dont care about money and gold diggers and groupies dont cost any money! Just a thought... | |

| I love this song. J12, i heard, "I fucking hate myself" as well. As for song meaning. Well it is hard to say waht they are singing about. I mean it's not like it's in the title or anything. | |
