| i never knew about the connection with romeo and juliet when i first heard this song. i always thought it was remiscent of the beatles song "she's leaving home". of course in that song the focus is more on the parents' reaction to losing their daughter, whereas in this song the focus is on the couple who are gone. but, after learning about the connection with the movie, there really can be no other interpretation that fits as well. | |

| While a few of the above meanings are accurate (the whole 'Thom wrote it about R+J thing'), it is also true that the creators of the movie sent Thom Yorke the last scene of the movie where Romeo and Juliet commit suicide together, so he would write a song for it, and that's where the inspiration came from, that last desperate moment of the film. Too bad that they never put this song in the movie, only played it for the ending credits. | |

| Has anybody ever heard anything to the rumor that the background noise towards the end of the song is a sound clip from a black box on a plane that crashed. Just something a friend passed along to me. I doubt there's any truth to it as that would be kind of tasteless and insensitive, but it would fit the tone of the song. Has anyone else heard anything about this? | |

| I agree with everyone that relates this song as being perfect for romeo and juliet. Terrific movie, my all time favorite, and perfect song to play at the end of a couples tragic love story. This song really makes you feel thier pain, but oddly enough it makes you feel something painful that has happned to you.... It's such a sad but yet beautiful song. I've always said , I have never come across a band that can make you feel soo much , than the way Radiohead does. | |
