"Follow Me Around"
by Radiohead
UNRELEASED
Tabbed by: Hugh Nettar
This is the guitar tablature for one of Radiohead's unreleased songs, entitled
"Follow Me Around", as performed in the "Meeting People Is Easy" video.
Of course, it is not exactly how Thom Yorke plays it, but rather my interpretation
of it from watching the video. Thom's genius makes this piece fly despite using
only two chords, D and G.
They are basically as follows (PLEASE NOTE the dropped D tuning):
D major G major
D A D G B d D A D G B d
O-O-O-----O ----0-0-0-0
| | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | O | | | | | | | |
| | | | O | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | O O | | | |
Intro:
d|--0---------------------0---------------0--|
B|--3---------------------3---------------3--| etc. until verse
G|--2--strum--------------2---------------2--|
D|--0---------------------0---------------0--|
A|--0---------------------0---------------0--|
D|--0----------0-3-0-2--0------0-3-0-2--0----|
Verse:
d|--0----------------------0---------------------0---------------------0--|
B|--3----------------------0---------------------0---------------------3--|
G|--2--strum---------------0--strum--------------0--strum--------------2--|
D|--0----------------------0---------------------0---------------------0--|
A|--0----------------------5---------------------5---------------------0--|
D|--0----------0-3-0-2--0--5---------0-3-0-2--0--5---------0-3-0-2--0--0--|
The MPIE video version has Thom basically playing around this, picking a bit here and
there.
But this should give you the rough idea. Not bad for my first tablature, huh? Anyway,
here
are the lyrics, also available from Injektilo* at:
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~peers/newalbum.htm#follow>.
I see you in the dark
Falling down the fast lane
Calling out to me
Oh that's where I'll be
Crawling out to me
Crawling out to me
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
And I'm coming down
Maybe I'll take you for a walk
Then I can see you
I'm feeling it coming down
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
I feel it
I feel it

| Listen, this is just a rumour. But someone posted on the message board at At Ease that they recorded it in August and it's gonna be on the 7th LP. Apparently a message was posted on Dead Air Space for 2 minutes before being taken down that said they recorded it. I'm not sure about it myself coz id've thought greenplastic or treefingers wouldv'e mentioned it if it'd actually happened. Just thought I'd mention this. | |

| yeah this song is unreleased, but there's a version on the documentary 'meeting people is easy' that has the rest of the band join in for the last section. is pretty cool. it would be super cool if it was on the new album. it looks like nude/big ideas is gonna be on there, so it's definitely a possibility. and i agree with robothouse. | |

| The verse start: Did you lie to us Tony? is obviously about Tony Blair and the belief before the '97 Election that new Labour would change Britain, but it turned out Blair was just another terrible Leader. | |

| It seems like it's from Tony Blair's point of veiw. Like he told all those lies and doesn't know how to get away from the people who are gonna catch him. | |

| +seems to me the follow me around reference could be about depression? once you go through it u always have this nagging feeling like its always with you waiting to attack. i just get this vibe that he was panicked and axious and everywhere he went his axiety followed | |
