| Serge 67, your right. Its about a house that Thom bought which was haunted and so he wrote quiet a lot of songs but lost them. One morining coming back or going to japan or something in the plane morining bell just came back to him. | |

| i don't see the amnesiac version of the song to be so lighthearted, but it has brighter sonorities, and its in 4/4 time as opposed to the kid a version which is in 5/4, i love both, or rather every noise ever emitted from thom yorke and jonny greenwood | |

| I was told the part about "Cut the kids in half" is a direct quotation from the Bible. Moses (maybe someone else?) gets approached by 2 prostitutes claiming they're both carrying his children. He tells them to "cut the kids in half". | |

| anyone else think this song, in parts, sounds a bit like semisonic's secret smile? anyway, i prefer the amnesiac version especially the 'cut the kids in half' seems to carry more of the relevant distress. but, actually i'm listening to the kid a version for the first time as i write this and i like the wierd scary bird sounds in the background near the end. oh, it's finished | |

| yeah... it's about divorce. on the amnesiac version of this song, it's sounds lightheaded and happy, while the kid a version is dark, and electronic. The two morning bells are complete opposites, kind of like the parents view of the divorce( on amnesiac) and the kids view of divorce( on kid a). | |

| seriously, toward the end, does anyne have any idea what he's mumbling? because no matter how many times i've listened to this song, the lyrics i've found don't match at all (the light are on but nobody's home, etc) except the "'cause i'm walking walking walking" and "everyone wants to be a friend / nobody wants to be a slave." | |

| Seems pretty obvious this to do with a mid-life crisis, or at least divorce anyway. "Morning bell Morning bell Light another candle Release me Release me" This is about the monotony of life, which evidently hits home at that stage in life - it seems to be a running theme in Kid A. "You can keep the furniture" - Divorce "A bump on the head Coming down the chimney Release me Release me Please... Release me Release me" - Everything all coming down on the narrator, wanting to escape still - let's face it, a fair percentage of Radiohead's song is about escapism. "Where'd you park the car? Where'd you park the car? Clothes are all over the furniture" - This is the divorce aspect: the car being driven away by the spouse without him/her knowing, and the clothes telling you that the husband/wife is having an affair with someone. "Now I might as well I might as well Sleepy jack the fire drill Run around around around around around..." - this is the narrator going insane methinks, overwhelmed by all the negative things going on in his life. "Cut the kids in half" - more divorce - who gets custody of the children. So there. :p | |

| I just listened to the song again and I think it is "coming down the chimney" but I stick to my statement about "light another candle" | |
