(Nice Dream)
Performed by: Radiohead
Written by: Thomas Yorke, Edward O'Brien, Colin Greenwood, Jonathan Greenwood and
Philip Selway
From the Album : The Bends (1995)
Tabbed by A Friend With Weed
You'll be looking back to these often enough so they're worth playing individually
just to practise. Stick with this song it's worth it in the end because in
technicality it's quite easy and impresses non-guitar-playing folks. Suckers.
Chords: Cmaj7 8 10 10 9 0 0
Badd11 7 9 9 8 0 0
Bbadd #11 b9 (Bb for short) 6 8 8 7 0 0
Aadd9 5 7 7 6 0 0
Aadd #11 9 (A* for short) X 0 9 8 0 0
Dadd9 6 (D for short) 10 12 12 11 0 0
E7sus4 0 7 7 7 0 0
E7 0 7 6 7 0 0
Bm11 7 X 7 7 0 0
B7/F# 2 X 1 2 0
Asus2 X 0 2 2 0
Bsus4 X 2 4 4 0 0
Cmaj7* X 3 5 5 0 0
Dadd9 6* (D* for short) X 5 7 7 0 0
B9 7 X 7 6 0 0
Aadd9* X 0 7 6 0 0
Aadd9/E 0 7 7 6 0 0
There's some pretty scary chord names in there. But here's my favourite:
Bb maj7 add #11 b9 (ha ha) 6 X 7 7 0 0
Those are the chords.
Now, how do they fit into the song. Well, i'll show you.
INTRO: Cmaj7 // Badd11 // Bb // Aadd9
Cmaj7 // Badd11 // Bb
BRIDGE: Aadd9 // A* // Aadd9 // A*
VERSE 1: Aadd9 D
They love me like I was their brother,
E7sus4 E7
They protect me, listen to me.
Aadd9 D
They dug me my very own garden,
E7sus4 E7
Gave me sunshine, made me happy.
CHORUS 1: Bm11 E7 (BRIDGE)
Nice dream, nice dream, nice dream.
VERSE 2: (same chords as verse 1)
I call up my friend the good angel,
But she's out with her ansaphone.
She say's that she'd love to come help,
But the sea would electrocute us all.
CHORUS 2: Bm11 E7 Aadd9 B7/F#
Nice dream, nice dream, nice dream, nice dream,
Bm11 E7 Bb
Nice dream, nice dream, nice dream.
INSTRUMENTAL: Asus2 // Bsus4 // Cmaj7* // D* (x4)
CHORUS REPRISE: Bm11 // Bm11 B9-Aadd9* // E7sus4 // E7sus4 Aadd9/E
Aadd9 // Aadd9 // B7/F# // B7/F# //
Bm11 // Bm11 B9-Aadd9* // E7sus4 // E7
Aadd9 B7/F# Bm11 Bbmaj7add#11b9
Nice dream, nice dream, nice dream, nice dream.
Finish on Aadd9.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the second measure of the CHORUS REPRISE the B9-Aadd9* is a link between the
two measures and is two quavers at the end of the measure.
REMEMBER (for those of you who know what i mean) this is in 6/8 so keep the swing going.
In the chord list at the top, two chords (B7/F# and Asus2) are missing a high 'e'
string fret positioning. This is my computer doesn't want to let me type there.
What gives there? But anyway the string is left open both times. You may be noticing
a pattern in the chords regarding the two highest strings? If not you're an idiot
and probably can't even read this so you won't even know i called you an idiot.
And really you shouldn't be on the internet at all unless you want to look at porn.
Which is reasonable i suppose. But I mean even illiterate people can see that the
characters are the same. I'm really getting worked up over nothing. If you've
stopped reading you have more intelligence than i do. I'm still writing...

| I always kind of thought of it as the same thing as a few of you, that it's sort of a fantasy world that you're living in. Definitely one of the songs that makes The Bends my favorite Radiohead album. | |

| Thom Yorke said that it's about the band's relationship with people in general. For me,this song is about how we believe sometimes that our friends are real friends and that everbody in our lives really cares when in fact it's nothing more than an illusion in our heads or a "nice dream".Another Radiohead song that reflects my life!!! | |
