I'm not sure if it's a coincidence but http://www.wolfatthedoor.org.uk/ And we all know how politically active Thom is…

In a way I agree with OpiumForThePeople. You can read all the political meanings you want into a song but in the end it's about very basic emotions. Imagine there's a wolf at your door trying to take your children, it's like the worst nightmare ever (with really beautiful chords). This is one of the few Radiohead songs that makes me cry. So pure and gutwrenching.

In a interview (blender) he said this was based on a rap song he heard.

damnit! people always get what i have to say in JUST before i do. OpiumForThePeople, you nailed it. but no need to take an arrogant approach to it, other people may see different meanings. crime definateley, but does it have to be as small as kidnapping some children? it might be other western countries (esp america in iraq with their 'road map') sealing the public ("children" of a country so-to-speak) against the ransom to turn to democracy. i'm not saying that democracy is bad, but the people need to chose for themselves. maybe the police are the UN

It is "get up, get goin." That said. This song is about that sneaking take-over fear that hits me right when I think it's gone altogether. When I'm driving down the road and I forget to drive. When all of the circumstances I've experienced add up to most certainly not feel real. The thoughts start run run running rampant little devils cringing crying shrieking through my head and they sound just like this song. And then the song starts to end/the fear starts to lift and it sounds/feels like it does at the end of the song. It winds down like it winds up at the beginning. And all is calm until the next time the song is played. Right, Thom?

this one is my favorite as well. I think it refers to this demon inside... whatever it is, for everybody something different. but something you hate about yourself, and always try to fix or deny, but it comes back sooner or later, and it's so horryfying and devastating, yet very familar, cause it is you after all...

I think this song is simply about fear and terror in all its shapes and forms. The calm regular arpeggios are disturbing in their inevitebility - Thom is singing frantically, especially at the end, but the arpeggios just go on and on regardless, and he can't influence them in any way.

My ex- ish girl freind is the lone wolf according to the astral book of days (not the correct name} and i have seen it myself over a candle flame. We split up, then i met another wolf (male), and realised what i had to be, so i got back with her as we had never had an orgasm together in the 6months of our relationship. i now live with this man in a youth hostel, he has met her and wished to settle down with her but i could not let him until our cycle was compete, not just sex but i had to complete bonds with my parents, and my ex girlfreind. i am as yet still an egg that has not broken into fire although i have been a gost (lamchop), during this time i danced like a motherfucker, and it has to be said i no longer recognise myself, and all the time i wished to be locked up inside her (not phalicaly). cold wives and sundays are what the future may hold.THATS WHAT THIS SONG MEANS TO ME!

I love his rap at the beginning. Absolutely amazing, it just tears me apart. I like how many meanings there are to this song, too.
