| this song is about death......i want to say he is talking about the river stixx, of greek mythology, when he says he jumped into the river. the river, and the boat are taking him to heaven along with eveything he experienced in his life. he is not scared of death. | |

| This song is unbelieveable, Yorke does it again, creating a feeling with his words and tone. Not sure if its about death or pure ecstasy or a trip of some kind, but damn its good. | |

| When you contemplate death it's really only a reflection of life. You begin to think of mistakes where you've messed up and where you'll go if anywhere. If there is anybody watching over you if god is even there. All sorts of things like that, so in a way we were all right. Personally this song made me think of the act of dying personally because of the river stixx thing and also because I saw the video the first time I heard the song and the whole fact that he's settling down in his old house and just letting go is beautifully symbolic. I love the fact that he just couldn't bear to live without what he once held as his. He lost everything apparently in a flood and he decided to go down with it. My favourite part is when he sits down and pulls out his air hose. That is a form of suicide that takes a LOT of courage. | |

| I think you all have good views on the songs meanings. There is only one word every one mentions and that is "life"...maybe we relate this song to our own lives. I know that this has opened my mind to some thing different, since I got the album I have played this song on my stereo every night before I go to sleep. I close my eyes and dream.... I guess thats wierd but its a relaxing song and i had trouble sleeping before. I get a feeling of loneliness that I really relate to the song; I went to a funeral home to vist a friend and noticed a family viewing that was going on, there was this old man who was prepared for the viewing. Flowers where all around him, pictures of his wife and kids (young and old). But the guy was all alone, it was like no one showed up for the funeral. When I looked at his picures it look like he had a great life, he was smiling in all his pictures and so was his family. Now he lay to rest until the great spirit wakes him up. I think of the man some times when I listen to the Pyramid Song. What do you think of? | |

| I think alot of stuff on Amnesiac pertains to ancient civilizations/ancient myths. The song is called Pyramid Song (Egyptian) and many of you think the river he refers to is the river Styx (actually, the river that the dead cross in the underworld is called Acheron, but either way, its still Greek mythology). The cover shows what could be a crying Minotaur in front of some constellations (again, Greek myth), and inside the cover book, it refers to the fall of the Roman empire, which is also mentioned in the song "You and Whose Army?". What all this means, I have no idea. | |

| This song makes me feel like I'm being lost at sea. Like there is no life around me for miles. It makes me want to see Dantes inferno and prove to myself what comes after this life. | |

| Released: June 2001 Found on: Amnesiac and Pyramid Song CD1 & CD2 This song debuted at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1999 with Thom solo on the piano. The running name for it at the time was "Nothing to Fear." It has since been called "Egyptian Song" and finally "Pyramid Song." From Jam!: It begins with simple piano and singer Thom Yorke intoning non-verbal, falsetto noise, against what sounds like the buzz of conversation. An assortment of sounds plays out in the background as jazzy drumming joins the mix and the track builds to a more conventional, full arrangement. "There was nothing left to fear/Nothing dark," Yorke (apparently) sings. Review from SXSW by Allstar: "Pyramid Song" creeped up next, as a piano-laden intro quickly gave way to a minor howl from Yorke. A lush and stormy backing track persevered throughout, giving off the impression that the band is symbolically lost at sea. When the drums kicked in, the song almost became a big band-era jam (more on that later). As the crowd at Plush became lost in the track (many folks were seen with their eyes shut, as if in some sort of trance), a large, overpowering orchestral crescendo rose and fell, bolting those lost in the music back to reality that this is Austin, Texas, not a Pentecostal sermon. | |
