"Lick off the shot my stories shock ya like Ellison" Ralph Ellison wrote "Invisible Man," in 1952. A fictional account of a black man in a white world, it is now regarded as a classic and widely read in the US school system. In its time it caused a great disruption because of the harsh truthfulness and the power of Ellison's prose. "Gaza to Tienanmen" The Gaza Strip is a narrow band of desertlike land along the western Mediterranean coast. It has been fought over by Israelites and Palestinians for many years and is a continuing territorial dispute. Tiananmen Square, in Beijing, China, was the site of a massacre of demonstrating pro-democracy students in June of 1989.

Rockstar, The song obviously isn't about Bush since it's too old, but bush isn't the first right-wing nutjob to go warmongering. The U.S. has been involved in wars (and while not involved in wars, paying facist guerillas in central america, selling bombs to isreal, or selling weaponized plague and other deadly weapons to Iraq(papa Bush did that one) ) for a LONG time and it is the right of the political spectrum that is usually involved. Most people in America are not on the far right but they don't really understand what's going on so the right just rattles on about terrorists(or not too long ago commies) and the rest of America just let's them do whatever they want (leashes, the fear and the mouthpieces, etc). This is pretty much the message of most of rage against the machine's songs and not just this one.

Emo Freinds, STFU. if you bothered to look at Rage's lyrics, you might find they make perfect sense, unlike all that shit emo. This song refers to the struggle of civilians against unjust aggressors, particularly the Palestinian struggle against the Isreali aggression. The line "call me the upsetter" i think is irony, to show how Arab protesters against israel are called terrorists when isreali hypocrites commits war crimes against Palestinians.

THIS SONG IS ABOUT !!! --->how governments ( corrupt ones or the corrupt part of some governments) can control people and how they have them so brainwashed into respecting authority , that you obey it without question ("here comes the hands on the leashes"), and how people are just brainwashed by symbolism ( the cross, the capital) etc.,, or get you to obey through fear ( "fear and the mouthpieces") and how they can pretty much just say to do something and we do it , blindly following , ("roll right roll call")
