| I've had German at school for like five years, but still I don't get a shit. Anyway, what does "Pioniere ziehen dort hin, singen Lieder für Lenin" mean ? | |

| From what I've been told, this song isn't a hate for Moscow, but actually an admiration for the city. Yes, he compares it to a prostitute, but he feels that Moscow is his prostitute and that no matter how ugly "she looks" she's still beautiful to him. Like he keeps going back to Moscow for more. I could go on more, but really, I just don't feel like explaining anymore. | |

| Iam German, so I think I undertand what this song means. At first it's about the many opposites in Moscow. There is many poverty and many rich people at the same time. It's definately a love song to Moscow, but it shows also some bad things about this city. | |

| It's about Russia escaping the stigma of Communism, I agree with that. | |

| Right let's sort out this mess. The woman singing is Viktoria Fersh. She is not from t.A.T.u. The singers in t.A.T.u are called Yulia and Elena. Yulia's voice is similar to Fersh's, but they are different people (hence different names). Pioniery tam idut, etc means "Pioneers here and there; singin song for Lenin" The German words means something similar. The Pioneer Movement was a Russin parallel to the Hitler Youth, but on the other side of the war. Much of the song is about the singer loving the city despite appearances: "Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst" = I see what you don't see "Sie ist alt und trotzdem schön" = She is old but nevertheless beautiful "Ist doch die schönste Stadt der Welt" = [She] is still the most beautiful city of the world [despite having to pay for 'sex' (previous line)]. Other parts are about a new start for Moscow: "Pudert sich die alte Haut" = She has shed the old skin "Hat sich die Brüste neu gebaut" = She has rebuilt her breasts -=ViRUS=- is right about the opening line, but not about the singer. | |
