| Definatly one of the best songs of Rosenrot! but no one has really explained the meaning....well Mann Gegen Mann is about the rebelious nature of homosexuality (simply put) - its basically the ultimate (pure even) form of rebelion to life. Pick a aspect of life and even death and youll see thats true "Schwulah" is a made up word (kinda) - its just taking the german word for 'fagget' and combining it with some screaming, that word could represent the whole 'effect' of homosexuality on society- - - if you seen the video (full of naked men - except for Till) youll see when hes yelling it - he transform to this demon - Schwulah represents the demon o yeah - final note, homosexuality has been around for a long time (very frequent in old great cultures of Asia) its just that as Christianity spread - well uhh people got 'prudish' - today people are more free to live their lifes (no offense to the organized religons)...and yeah like most things, the media is trying to captilize of things :cough:urban culture:cough: | |

| I love this song and the new album but this is my fav. It says Schwule cos thats what gay is in german, bu he adds a ah on the end to make it catching and fit in with the song, that all! | |

| I kind of had the feel that they're criticizing many people's blind hate of homosexuals and describing what a gay person has to deal with in everyday life. As for an interpretation, the lines "Das Schicksal hat mich angelacht ... warf mich auf einen warmen Stern" (Fate has smiled upon me ... and threw me onto a warm star) I think represent how many homosexuals feel: they often say that they didn't "turn" gay but were that way ever since they were aware of their sexuality. The "warm star" would in this case stand for homosexuality because, at least from what I heard, Germans have the expression "warmer Bruder" (literally, "warm brother"), which is similar to the English expression "flamer". | |

| As for this problem: >Doch friert mein Herz an manchen Tagen >Kalte Zungen die da schlagen As stalin (what a nick! °_°) said, this might be about the gay communities. The second line could be about kisses, not about words, meaning that there is no love in those kisses and that they are "cold". In the video, you see mainly bodies, but almost no faces. When they show a face, it's just filled with desire, but not 'clear' to see. So I guess this song is pro-homosexual (of course, it's referring to different problems of gay's lifes), but also criticizing the homosexual community and their impression of love. | |

| Oh really, thank you captain obvious. I know some German, not a much since I only take it as a highschool class, but I do know that E's at the end of a word make an uh sound. It sounds more like an ah sound than an uh sound if you ask me. | |

| Thanks, alemur, for clearing that up. I have another question for you native German speakers out there. I've had a lot experience studying German now, but I have never come across the expression "Zungen, die schlagen". Is this something that Rammstein made up and it's just supposed to be a metaphor, or is it really an expression that has a specific meaning? I tried to look it up, but all I found was "das Zungenschlagen", which is apparently a clinical term used to describe some sort of abnormal movement of the tongue... Can someone help? | |

| This song seems to be negative towards homosexuality to me, even after reading the lyrics several times...Either that, or, as DrkRtst said, it is pointing out the repressed nature of it. | |

| Its about homophobia, it has two meanings man on man as in 2 guys in a relationship together but also man on man as in man versus man which is most likely refering to homophobes turning against people for being homosexual | |

| Das Schicksal hat mich angelacht und mir ein Geschenk gemacht Warf mich auf einen warmen Stern Der Haut so nah dem Auge fern Ich nehm mein Schicksal in die Hand Mein Verlangen ist bemannt Wo das süße Wasser stirbt weil es sich im Salz verdirbt trag ich den kleinen Prinz im Sinn Ein König ohne Königin Wenn sich an mir ein Weib verirrt dann ist die helle Welt verwirrt Mann gegen Mann Meine Haut gehört den Herren Mann gegen Mann Gleich und Gleich gesellt sich gern Mann gegen Mann Ich bin der Diener zweier Herren Mann gegen Mann Gleich und Gleich gesellt sich gern Ich bin die Ecke aller Räume Ich bin der Schatten aller Bäume In meiner Kette fehlt kein Glied wenn die Lust von hinten zieht Mein Geschlecht schimpft mich Verräter Ich bin der Alptraum aller Väter Mann gegen Mann Meine Haut gehört den Herren Mann gegen Mann Gleich und Gleich gesellt sich gern Mann gegen Mann Doch friert mein Herz an manchen Tagen Mann gegen Mann Kalte Zungen die da schlagen Schwulah Mich interessiert kein Gleichgewicht Mir scheint die Sonne ins Gesicht Doch friert mein Herz an manchen Tagen Kalte Zungen die da schlagen Schwulah Mann gaygen Mann these are the lyrics, i got them from the officail lyrics website for rammstein http://herzeleid.com/en/lyrics/rosenrot/mann_gegen_mann when they say "Schwulah", this next sentence i copied DIRECTLY from the site The screaming ("Ah") has been combined with "Schwuler" to make "Schwulah". That, or it's similar to "playa" as opposed to "player", just changing the ending to sound "hip". heres the english lyrics for it and what it means Destiny smiled on me and gave me a present Threw me on a warm star [1] So close to the skin, so far from the eye I take my destiny in my own hands My desire is manned Where the fresh water dies because it taints itself in salt I keep the Little Prince in mind A king without a queen When a woman is mistaken about me then the bright world is confused Man against man My skin belongs to the gentlemen Man against man Birds of a feather flock together Man against man I am the servant of two masters Man against man Birds of a feather flock together I am the corner of all rooms I am the shadow of all trees No link is missing in my chain [2] when lust pulls from behind My family calls me a traitor [3] I am the nightmare of all fathers Man against man My skin belongs to the gentlemen Man against man Birds of a feather flock together Man against man But my heart freezes on some days Man against man Cold tongues that beat there Gay-ah [4] I'm not interested in balance The sun shines in my face But my heart freezes on some days Cold tongues that beat there Gay-ah Man gayfor man [5] [1] "Warm" means the same as the English word "warm", but also is slang for "homosexual". Thus, the star is either warm or gay, or both. [2] "Glied" can mean both "link" (of a chain) and "member" – that is, "penis". [3] "Geschlecht" can mean many things: "sex", "gender", "family", "house", "generation", etc. It can also be short for "Geschlechtsteil" which means "genitals". [4] The screaming ("Ah") has been combined with "Schwuler" to make "Schwulah". That, or it's similar to "playa" as opposed to "player", just changing the ending to sound "hip". [5] Gegen and "gay gen" sound the same. The former means "against", the latter "gay for". | |
