xthecorrodedx coudn't be more correct. Rancid is only "WAY" more popular because they've been around for ten years. operation ivy has a humongous fan base and they were only around for two, they only put out one cd also. so basically, you are a fuckign retard that doesn't know a thing about rancid or operation ivy. fucker

this song seems to be more about closure rather than the greatness of operation ivy. tim reflects about his previous band and asks himself what went wrong with such a great thing. he doesnt glorify operation ivy so much as he describes the foolishness of the group of kids that tried to take on the world. their mixed feelings of ambition and exhaustion as their fans became more and more demanding were part of what drove the band apart. tim seems to look back his earlier days with mixed emotions and realize the lessons to be learned

i always thought this song was about tim and matt and their early days going to shows and playing shows at gilman street, and when they went on tour with Op Ivy, cause on Op Ivy's first US tour they rode around in a 4 door car with a box on top and it was just the four of them, and then they got a lot of attention and broke up, and then the end is about matt, because after Op Ivy broke up matt and tim were pretty disillusioned by music, and then they started rancid.

hey onethirdofCTW. i think tims talkin about opivy'sinexperience within the music world, which led them to their end.. just because rancid is popular these days doesnt mean that they cant handle themselves in the music industry. on the contrary, i think theyre handling themselves quite well, still putting out very diverse punk albums all of which rock. and the trnasplants was just an experiemntal thing.. hey, different strokes for different folks, right? chill out. this song rocks and it was my virgin rancid bass song.
