Forever And Ever Amen
Randy Travis
D G D
You may think that I'm talking foolish
G D
You've heard that I'm wild & I'm free
G D
You may wonder how I can promise you now
E A
This love that I'm feeling for you always will be
D G D
You're not this time that I'm killing
G D
I'm no longer one of those guys
G D
As sure as I live this love that I give
E A
Is gonna be yours till the day that I die -- Oh baby
chorus...
D G D G D
I'm gonna love you forever, forever & ever amen
G D
As long as old men sit & talk about the weather
E A
As long as old women sit & talk about old men
D G D
If you wonder how long I'll be faithfull
G D
I'll be happy to tell you again
G A D G E A D
I'm gonna love you forever & ever, forever & ever Amen
G D
They say that time takes it's toll on a body
G D
Makes the young girls brown hair turn grey
G D
But honey, I don't care, I'm not in love with your hair
E A
And if it all fell out well I'd love you anyway
D G G
They say that time can play tricks on a memory
G D
And people forget things that they knew
G A D
But it's easy to see it's happening to me
E A D
I've already forgotten every woman but you --- Oh baby
chorus......
G A D
Just listen to how this song ends
G A D G E A
I'm gonna love you forever & ever forever & ever

windowmaker...can you enlighten us w/some examples of country songs that only talk about Texas and/or trucks? I've heard hundreds of country songs and can only think of two off the top of my head that match your "fact."

"Country musicians don't even know how to play guitar correctly." not that im a fan of country, i simply tolerate it, but country has some of the greatest guitarists of all time. they may not shred like eddie or satch or whoever else, but they can definantly play. im sure some of the best guitarists would attest to that.

Randy Travis saved country music in the 1980s with his beautiful voice and songs like this. No one has a deep, beautiful voice like Randy Travis. "Forever and Ever, Amen" ranks among the top country songs all time, literallly. Some rankings have it as high as #16. Seems like I did research but I am just a huge Randy Travis fan :p

Don't mess with Texas. This was one of those songs that really got me into country. Just great. I think it means... he's gonna' love her forever and ever. (And with country songs, you never wonder what the sex of the person being sung about is. It sucks when you dig a Depche Mode song, but you get the feeling you're singing along to a song about inhaling peters.) This song surely ranks among the Top 50 love songs.

Randy Travis is one the best singer/songwriters in the country genre. This song transcends any genre of music because it is about true love. I would love to see a great band cover this song. Every married couple should play this song at their weddings or anniversary parties. This is the best love song of all time without a doubt. Even Lionel Ritchie must have turned his head when heard this song. That's saying something because he's the love song master.
