Bless The Broken Road
by Rascal Flatts
"Feels Like Today" Album (2004)

Here's their brand new single. I got a chance to see this one live about a week before
it was aired on radio, man this was a great one they did. This song is bound to be Number
1, just watch. Its a great and a beautiful song. I hope you all enjoy it.

Intro: C F G C (2x)

Verse:
C F G C
I set out on a narrow way many years ago
C F G C
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
Am F
But I got lost a time or two
G C
Wiped my brow and kept pushin' through
C F G C
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

Chorus:
F C G C
That every long lost dream led me to where you are
F C F G
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
F C G C
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
Am
This much I know is true..
C F G C
That God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you

(Repeat Intro)

Verse:
I think about the years I've spent just passin' through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there, you understand
Its all part of a grander plan that is comin' true

CHORUS

Solo: (Not sure about the chords here; I just play the Intro again)

Chorus 2:
F C G C
And now I'm just rolling home into my lover's arms
Am
This much I know is true..
C F G C F G C
That God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you
C F G C F G C
That God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you oooooooo
C F G C (let ring)
Oooooooo ooooooo ooo

That's it...on the "oooo"s at the end is where Gary does some of his finest beautiful
vocal improvisation. I've hit his notes a few times and if you can hit them (Guys mostly)
they are really tons of fun to sing. Good luck with this and enjoy.

Rock On!
Chris

"Are you guys ready to Country N Roll!?!"
Jay Demarcus (He said that at the show I went to =D)

This song means a ton to me.. Im currently Crazy about a girl I know.. She feels the same way but it hopfully gonna be with me for a while :).. I think I felt this way before I met her.. Before her was just a broken road of heart break.. and since I found her I feel like there is such thing as true love :)

Wow, this song is amazing, but it makes me bawl everytime I hear it. A good friend of mine died in a car accident recently, and a guy sang this at the funeral. It has never sounded the same to me since. This song was also played at my prom last week, which wasn't good because I started crying and my make-up ran. But, yeah, this is a great song. RIP Matty

Well... I haven't experienced my final love yet... since I just broke up with my girlfriend. I have witnessed many people finally making it past the broken road. And because of this song, I chose to let my broken raod lead me to my love other then looking at other girls lustfully.

words cannot possibly express how this song makes me feel. although no tears were cried this song brought out the inner child in me, the child that wants to desperatly to have that attention, that love that can't be bought. this is a song about movin on, learning from ur mistakes and not condemning urself to live in the past.

I know he probably wrote this song about his girlfriend or wife, but to me every time I hear it it makes me think about Jesus. I love it.

That you go through boyfriends and girlfriends alot. Never knowing if its true love. But those who have hurt you..such as an ex boyfriend of mine. They have just made me stronger and have led me closer and closer to my true love. Like they say "others who broke my heart they were like northern stars, pointing me on my way into your loving arms, this much i know is true, that god blessed the broke road, that led me straight to you" The broken road i think is the life before your true love...so all the hurt all the pain all the people you dated and all the heart breaks..and god blessed it and made us realize many things and taught us a lesson.

This means EVERYTHING about my relationship. I had a rough road and many different girlfriends before my current one... none of them seemed right at all... and now I am completely happy with my current one and all the rest just got me ready for her. I love you Whitney!!! With all my heart!!!

I thought this song was really sweet and I still do but I just question one thing... in the lines "Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars/ Pointing me on my way into your loving arms"- how does he know that this new girl he has now is THE ONE and won't break his heart like all of those other girls before? The sad part is: Maybe he doesn't know, he just has hope that this new relationship will work. Depressing I know. I still think this song is really sweet though.

I relate to this song, as most people probably do. Its like, finding the "one" is this huge sigh of relief after all the bad stuff we go through

This song makes me cry every time I hear it, but I really love it! I'm still traveling down my broken road, but I know that all of the bad experiences I've had with my exes will just make me appreciate it even more when I do find the love of my life.

The line "now I'm just rolling home" is an underhand jibe from songwriter Marcus Hummon about singer Gary Levox's ever so slightly rotund disposition, has nobody else spotted this?!?

This song talks about having bad relationships in the past, and never giving up trying to find the right person for you. You don’t realize it at the time, but every break up that you went through, is just a stepping stone “or a northern star” to finding the perfect person for you. I have had a few bad relationships that have really made me want to give up, but I didn’t and now I have found the love of my life. Without those horrible past relationships my boyfriend & I have dealt with, we may have not ever met each other, or learned as much as we did.
