'Norma Jean', ain't that the song
Em
We'd sing in the car,
C G D/F#
Drivin' downtown, top down making the rounds,
Em C
Checking out the bands on Doheeney Avenue.
Am7 G/B C(add9)
Yeah, life throws you curves,
G
But you learned to swerve.
D/F#
Me I swung and I missed
Em
And the next thing ya know
I'm reminiscin'.

Dreaming old dreams,
G/B
Wishing old wishes,
C
Like you would be back again.
D C G/B
I wake up in tear drops,
D/A C(add9)
That fall down like rain.
Em C D
I put on that old song we danced to and then
C G/B
I head off to my job,
D/A C(add9)
Guess not much has changed.
Punch the clock,
Em
Head for home,
C D
Check the phone, just in case.
C(add9)
Go to bed,

Someone told me after college,
C G
You ran off to Vegas.
D/F# Em
You married a rodeo cowboy,
C G
Wow, that ain't the girl I knew.
D/F#
Me I've been a few places,
Em C
Mostly here and there once or twice.
G D/F#
Still sortin' out life, but I'm doing alright.
Em C
Yeah, it's good to see you too.
Am7 G/B C(add9)
Well hey girl, you're late,
G
And those planes, they don't wait.
D/F# Em
But if you ever come back around
To this sleepy old town,
Am
Promise me you'll stop in
G/B
To see an old friend
C
And until then...
D C G/B
I wake up in tear drops,

| This is a song about how he is still in love with her. He realizes they will never be together, but he still holds on to that last hope. | |

| This song has no comments?! I love it - catchy tune, and while the lyrics are a bit simplistic, I adore this song to death. I can't even relate to it; I don't believe in love as anything other than purely scientific, but still, I listen to this song obsessively. It's HAPPEEE. :) | |

| my ex dedicated this song to me... and we broke up still in love.. it was a fantasy love and we knew we could never be together, we were at different points in our lives.. about 6 months after we broke up we wnt on a date and all of those same emotions came back, it was as if not a day had passed. .. we were on each others mind always and we eventually fell out of each others mind.. we were meant to be with each other but, life prevented us from that... i hold him dear in my heart.. we have gone our seperate ways... and I'm happy.. but everytime I hear this song it reminds me of a life that I wanted so bad but was unable to have... god works in mysterious ways... | |
