| I love this song, especially the first few lines: "Starin at you, taking off your makeup, wondering why you even put it on" and "You smile and shake your head, as if you don't believe me" because it reminds me so much of my boyfriend. He tells me I'm gorgeous almost every day, but I just shake my head and don't believe him. And even when I don't put my makeup on, he still thinks I'm beautiful | |

| I don't think it is about being young, he is looking back on some parts but i think they are in their 30s and 40s at the time he is singing the song. He is singing in verses 2 and 4 in PAST tense. ("That river WAS cold," etc. I picture a lady, maybe 35, that he is singing to saying that he thinks she looks the same with or without makeup...age has nothing on her, she still is beautiful as ever. | |

| It's talking about love, and being young, and the enjoyment of love while being young. The fun and freedom that one can share and have whike being younger. It talks about rememberance of past days, and how beautiful this girl is. Their days spent together. The love they shared. The love they both made. It says all about their love, and how stil with time he can still remember their past fun days together! | |

| i think on top of that, he's saying to her, not only that she looks naturally beautiful, but that she still looks as young and as beautiful as she looked when their relationship began... "you don't look a day over Fast cars and freedom" (the days of youth), and the references of the "old red Nova" and the river being cold are memories from those days when they were younger. | |
