«First Day Of My Life»
Album: Dead Letters
Added To UG By Mikhailo

Am F
Feel like I'm stoned
F Dm E Am
wanna be alone, just for a while, unknown
Am F Dm
Weeks on the road a long way from home
Dm E
just shut off the phone

Am F
And you say I'll heal you,
Dm E
I'll always be yours
Am C Dm F E
and you say I'll kill you if I do something wrong

Dm G
Still feels like the first time
C Am
to stand here by your side
Dm G
together regardless
C Am
we'll walk through the darkness
Dm E Am
Still fells like the first day of my life

Remember the times
together we swore, never give up this life
still hanging on, still going strong
here I belong

And maybe I'm crazy
but I just can't slow down
And maybe I'm crazy
but at least I'm still around

Still feels like the first time
to stand here by your side
together regardless
we'll walk through the darkness
Still fells like the first day of my life

mostly agreeing with Halloween. Leiah, i'm pretty sure the interview you're talking about was for In My Life... cause that's what he's said about that song. First Day Of My Life is my all time favourite song! It's so... strengthening, i think it is about starting again and coming through hard times for the better in the long run. I agree with Lauril it's one of their most posiitive songs. I don't know where I'd be without it!

This is one of the greatest songs ever. EVER. It's all about making your own choices and being happy with them. I love the line "Can i suggest that you invest in something more than hopelessness Before you know, the ride is over" because I've lived in depression and hoplesness and it's totally not worth it! You can sit around or do as the songs says because it's "up to you." Almost makes me wanna cry when I think of how much this song could've helped me back then. Oh, well. Live and learn, right?

I was living the other side of the street Lauri and his family lived 1992-1998. A wooden two-storey house and a little garden. I think the boys had rehearsals there. Their old bus was often parked in the front of the house. I saw Lauri when he was a youngster sometimes daily when I traveled from the northern Helsinki to the downtown and back. He made an impression long before I knew he is in that band with his sometimes yellow, sometimes green punk-style hair combed up with wax like a crown. He was very young those days, in his early teens. I was heard the band´s name and I knew they have growing success in Finland but it was a total surprise for me when I realized this neighbourhood guy is a Rasmus vocalist. I´m very happy seeing them doing well all over the world nowadays.

To me, this song represents a committment - being able to work through problems (together regardless we'll walk through the darkness), never giving up on it (Still hanging on, still going strong, here I belong). there are a ton of different kinds of commitments - for me it was about remaining. i'm glad that i found this song when i did. "And maybe I'm crazy but at least I'm still around" makes me think about that someone may have gone through something extremely harsh - and may have a reputation for what he/she has done, but they still survived and made it through. the entire thing with "feels like the first day of my life" reminds me of a new beginning, being able to start anew. i hope that someone else out there was helped by this song the way it helped me ;)

I think is mostly about living the life intense, being around the ones you love as always and still having the ability to get surprised, like the first time you hanged out with your friends or the first time you see something happening. Its about feeling everything as if it were the first time on the first day of your life.

I've heard in an interview that this song is about being in the band actually, and how hard Lauri fighted to make it. He left school at 16, to be a musician and he's family didn't understand him then.

This song is truly inspiring. It reminds me that we can change and do things for ourselves because it's our decision in the end.

it's one of the best songs the rasmus have ever sang. it shows the world from a point of view especially to a person who's depressed or lost or frustrated. the rasmus read the feelings of each one of us, they're amazing! i love them.
