I've been through some hard times and this song is always in the back of my mind during those times reminding me that I'm not the only one who feels sad and that there are people out there who care... "Imagine me taught by tragedy release is peace" is my favourite part.

Oh my god dirtgirl that's beautiful. a friend of mine was raped last year but I didn't think to do that. I think it's a song about sticking by your friends so matter what and having them support you to.

even though one hot minute was not one of my more favorite cd's by them i really like this song. and i kinda think its about being lonley and deppressed also but i think maybe hes siging personally about the kinda circle in his band that he can trust them when hes lonely and stuff (i also really love the video cause anthony is the sexiest man alive) I also had a friend who was raped and this is her favorite song.

Who the hell is bob forest? This song is great especially live. wots the deal with that quiet begining. lots of chils songs are quiet at the begining like coffe shop or warped.

I read a essay Anthony wrote on his heroes, and he said that his greatest hero is a 9 year old girl he saw on televison who won a dancing contest. She was sexually abused and beaten by her father, but when they asked her what she learned from her experiences she just said- 'To forgive and endlessly give your love to all those around you no matter what happens' Thats what the last line in the song means.... beautiful isn't it?

In Anthony Kiedis' autobiography he writes: "Me and My Friends ," a song I'd written while driving home from San Francisco with my old friend Joe Walters.

I always thought he was saying "my penis my penis my penis my penis, my penis." honestly. but then I learned the name of the song....

while the band is usually known for funky, up beat rock songs, this is a soft, sad instrumental. it's all about your friends trying to help you through hard times (as i said earlier). it's deffinatly about knowing who your true friends are too, cause the 1s who aren't true friends, run when life gets shitty.

This song always makes me cry. A few months ago my best friend was raped. When she told me I didn't know what to say to her so i got my guitar and sang this song. It was my way of telling her we love her and will always be there for her.
