	this song is just amazing. It is also the right way to say what greenday is trying to say with the album, american idiot. green day is saying like bush sucks, hes and idiot, and our country sucks. rchp is saying that we need to improve and he says everything thats wrong.

	well, as if he's a hollow tree. not like being filled with a hollow tree if yuo catch my drift...theres symbolism in that line too....Trees are life giving, providing oxygen for the masses, and peopel should aim to please and help others live to, but this is a farce, because everyones empty to things, unless its part of them. S o being filled up is getting the gift of life giving ( or general helpfulness) back.

	This song rocks, I 1st heard it when i was doin' American History fo ma GCSE's and we were doin' about the struggle that the black americans had to go thru to get equality, and this song is about how they still aint got it 'American equality Has always been sour' but how people did change their opinions towards them.

	Yeah, it's about equality for all, but i think it's also kind of about how even though America claims to be all about equality, there's still so much discimination here based on gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. The Chili's have made pretty clear that they hate all that stuff.
