Red House Painters - All Mixed Up
Album: Songs For A Blue Guitar
This is my favorite RHP song, and it has never had a decent tab.
I just saw Mark play this song live, and he played with a capo 3.
I don't know what tuning he was using, but here is what I've figured out.

she shadows me in the mirror
she never leaves on the light
and some things that i say to her
they just don't seem to bite
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
she tricks me into thinking
that i can't believe my eyes
that i wait for her forever
but she never does arrive
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
she says to leave it to me
and everything will be allright
she says to leave it to me
and everything will be allright
she's always out making pictures
she's always out making scenes
she's always out the window
when it comes to making dreams
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up
it's all mixed up

| another cover I enjoy! fancy that! i think the soft tone of red house painters goes well with this song. these parts make my heart ache: "some things that i say to her / they just don't seem to bite" "i wait for her forever / but she never does arrive" "she says to leave it to me / everything will be allright" "she's always out the window / when it comes to making dreams" it's all mixed up is an understatement. catherineks, "she wants his love and devotion, but fails to return it" is exactly the feeling i get from the lyrics, too... | |
