Tributary Otis
The Refreshments
from David Cushman, http://gladstone.uoregon.edu/~dcushman/guitar.html
C D
G C G C
G
I've traveled
C G
And I've seen the things I've built working;
C
Working to bring me down
G
And I've made me thirsty now
C
But I will go beyond this thirst
G C
And the tears I've cried for you have all gone dry
G C Em Am
So I lay down on the floor, turn up my radio
G C D C D
C'mon River Otis make me cry
G C Em
'Cause I been out all night, and I had to give up the
Am
fight
G C D
So come on River Otis make me cry
C D
Come on River Otis make me cry
G C G C
G
I have fallen.
C
And I have risen too
G C
And what I believe in, now I see through
G
'Cause you got thirsty too
C
I said "come to my well",
G
But the only thing you brought was your thousand yard
C
stare.
G C Em Am
So I lay down on the floor and turn up my radio
G C D C D
Come on River Otis make me cry
G C Em
'Cause I been out all night, and I had to give up the
Am
fight
G C D
So come on River Otis make me cry
C D C
Come on River Otis make me cry
D G D C D
Yeah make me cry!
C D G D C D
C D
G
I've traveled
C G
And I've seen the things I've built working;
C
Working to bring me down
G
Well I am thirsty no more
C
I've gone beyond that thirst
G C
and the tears I've cried for you are all gone dry
G C Em Am
So I lay down on the floor, turn up my radio
G C D C D
Come on River Otis make me cry
G C Em
'Cause I been out all night, still I had to give up the
Am
fight
G C D
Now come on River Otis make me cry
C D
Come on River Otis...
C D
Come on River Otis make me...
C D
Come on River Otis make me cry
G C
Yeah, make me cry
G C
Yeah, yeah, make me cry
cry
G
Come on River Otis...
C
Come on River Otis make me...
G
Come on River Otis...
C
Come on River Otis make me try
G
Yeah, make me try
C
Aw, make me try
G
Try, try, try...
C
Yeah, c'mon make me cry
G C G C G

| This is one of my favorite (if not my very favorite) Refreshments songs. I'm also a big fan of the Gin Blossoms and miss the old 90's rock sound. Music today really sucks. That's why I leave cd's like the Refreshments and Gin Blossoms in my cd player and don't listen to the radio much at all. | |

| Classic song and tribute to Doug indeed! We need more hits on these songs. The Peacemakers are great too. | |

| I don't know about the other opinions here, but the Song says "River Otis" which is an Album by Dead Hot Workshop which is also mentioned in another Refreshments song. The song title is a Pun, Tributary Otis, Trubutary as in River, River as in River Otis. | |

| This song is a tribute to the late Doug Hopkins, who was in fellow AZ band Gin Blossoms. Several members of both bands formed Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers a few years ago. | |
