Intro
G G/A# E E C D B E D C Cm
G G/A# E
So, I've made up my mind
C D E G
I will pretend to leave this world behind
G/A# E
And in the end, you'll know I've lied
C D
To get your attention
B E D C Cm
I'm faking my own suicide
G G/A# E
I'm faking my own suicide
(C) (G)
Because I know you love me
(C) (D)
You just haven't realized
G G/A# E
I'm faking my own suicide
C D
They'll hold a double funeral
B E
Because apart of you will die
D C Cm
Along with me
I wish you thought that I was dead
So rather than me you'd be depressed instead
And before arriving at my grave
You'd come to the conclusion
You'd loved me all your days
But it's too late
Too late for you to say
Because I'm faking my own suicide
Because I know you love me
You just haven't realized
Oh, I'm faking my own suicide
They'll hold a double funeral
Because apart of you will die
Along with me
I'll write you a letter that you'll keep
Reminding you your love for me is more than six feet deep
You say aloud that you would have been my wife
Write about that time is when I come back to life
And let you know
I'd let you know all along I was...
All along I was faking my own suicide
Because I know you love me
You just haven't realized
I was faking my own suicide
I'll walk in that room and see your eyes opened so wide
Opened so wide
Because you know
B C D
Because you know you will never leave my site
Until the day that I die for the first time
And we'll laugh, yeah we'll laugh
And we will cry
So overjoyed at the love that's so alive
(G)
Our love is so alive

This is like the only song on the cd that I find kind of wierd. Suicide is such a serious issuses that I don't think that they should joke around about it. The music is good though. What if someone who looks up to Relient k and tries something weird like that. The tune is really catchy thoough.

Ok my interpretation is that this guy is terrified. i think he's realizing that his girl may just break up with him because she doesn't love him but hes makaing this plan to fake his own suicide. Because if someone dies of course they'll be sad. he wants her to realize that she DOES love him. and then he'll come out and say that he was just pretending. He's scared. he doesnt want to be depressed when she lets him go. he needs and does love her. and so if he "dies" she'll be depressed instead. Even though this band is a christian band. and don't get me wrong i love this band and i have for years. but i just dont see this song as being seen with a connection with christ. i think its a relationship of a boy and girl. Because why would they talk about jesus faking his suicide...this song clearly states for one person to realize she loves him. but jesus did it for everyone. thanks indiaisaprincess :)

I think it's a very clever song, though mildly creepy. Sounds nice.

It's based on an old movie called Harold and Maude. At least, that's what it says in their bio/album summary on the site.

this song is so weird because I have had dreams of me dying and then I come back and everything is happily ever after because he knows how much he loves me. I had never been able to explain it to my friends but it seems like this song sums it up :-) I really love it and can really relate

i dont think its about jesus talking about his death and ressurection. i could see how it might be, but no. jesus didnt FAKE it. and it wasnt really suicide. he was doing it to save all of us.

Yup this is based on the old 70's movie Harold and Maude, Matt liked a girl and wants to fake his own death to make her realize she loves him and did all along. I wanna do this when me and my girlfreind fight to make her see she loves me and when/if she breaks my heart ever so she wont and see she loves me

This song's lyrics by themselves would be totally creepy. But the upbeat way they're sung makes it sweet, and the song is awesome.

i think that it has been written so you could take it either way. as the death and resurrection of Jesus or trying to show someone how much they love you.

this is a nice song! It's about wanting to make someone realize how much they really love you. after all, you don't really know how important someone is until they are gone

I saw them in concert last night and before this song he said he wrote it about a girl that had a crush on him but wouldn't admit it. So he bribed an obituary writer to fake his own suicide so she would finally come out and admit that she liked him.
