I've been looking for this tab everywhere, but never found it. I've decided
to do it myself.
Should be an easy song, but keep the fingers moving.
listen to the cd for rythmic figures.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
(Verse #1)
(A)
let's try a new change
let's try a new change
(Ab) (F#minor)
let's try a new change
(Bminor)
then we'll go on back to the old one
(D) (Dminor)(A)
like we've done so many times before
(A)
and i'll buy a new brain
i'll buy a new brain
(Ab) (F#minor)
you'll administer new pain
(Bminor)
then we'll go on back to our old school
(D) (Dminor) (A)
that we left so many times before
(E)
and you'll ask for more
(E)
and more
(Verse #2)
(A)
i've just begun a new phase
i'm trying these days
(Ab)
i've watched you close
(F#minor)
i'm versed in all your ways
(Bminor)
i'm just beginning to realize
(D) (Dminor) (A) (A7)
i'll get you one of these days
(Bridge)
(D)
but in the end
(Dminor)
if it was all pretend
(A) (A7) (F#minor)
isn't that what friends are for?
(D)
but this is real life
(Dminor)
it's supposed to be real life
(A) (A7) (F#minor)
so let's pretend that we're not bored
(D) (Dminor)
that we exist and that we're resolved
(A) (A7) (F#minor)
to real things happening to me
(D)(Dminor)(A)
2, 3, 4
(Play the same chords as Verse #1 for solo accompaniment.)
I need more time to figure out the concluding solo.

| I think the phrase "old habits die hard" embodies this song. In some relationships, it's impossible to get out of the vicious cycle. He knows her so well and so despite trying to start anew, he always winds up coming back to her because it is what he knows best. And despite all the unresolved conflicts, every time they pretend that they really are starting anew and that they don't know that they'll inevitably end up hurting each other again. | |

| "Let's try a new change Then we'll go on back to the old one ... But in the end If it was all pretend Isn't that what friends are for?" maybe its talking about two people who are friends, and want to maybe try a relationship, and if it fails, then they can just go back to being friends.."what friends are for" | |
