| The dance moves she's referring to are significant to Jenny, because of the movie Troop Beverly Hills which she starred in, as a kid with Shelley Long and Craig T. Nelson. There's this scene where they go to a nursing home and they are demonstrating different dance moves for the residents there. Perhaps Jenny had difficulty learning "the Frug"? I'm not sure how that relates to the overall meaning of the song. The other part is about someone she has romantic feelings for, but isn't telling - I don't think it's necessarily an ex. From RK/Jenny lyrics, in general, it seems that she might be a subscriber to the common female conundrum of falling for the guys that treat you like dirt and therefore being afraid to fall, but specifically not falling for the good guys. | |

| this song makes perfect since and it was what originally drew me to Rilo Kiley. the frug, robo cop, freddy, and the smurf are dance moves. she can do all of them but one. just like she can tell you that she's real pretty...but she can't fall in love. in the context of the album, i think she's talking to her ex-lover, now friend, about his new girlfriend and what she thinks. | |

| To me, this song is about self loathing. "I can hate your girl, I can tell you she's real pretty" Maybe, she just broke up or is on the verge of splitting and hates herself because she's not able to return the care he gives her. 'You'll never see my eyes" He may love her eyes, but she doesn't want to show them to him because she hates that he loves her, "I cannot fall inlove.. I'll never fall inlove.." She's jaded and telling this guy Look, I can't love you back you're waisting your time. As for all the dance illusions, maybe they met dancing? Just a thought. | |
