i love blake sennett. i say this about many of their songs, but this really is their best whether jenny or blake is singing it. and I LOVE that when jenny sings it she changes the words, like she says "i just drink it away" instead of sleep. this song is so real and depressing you cant help but love it.

i love the recorde version, when blake sings. but live is pretty good too, because jenny sings it. it's cool, because when they play spectacular views blake sings it, in concert, as opposed to jenny singing (which she does on the album. So they kind of switch the spectacular views.

I'm pretty sure this song is called "spectacular views." They have two called "spectacular views."

this is about independence, and growing independent from your original source i think, typified by the planes... And then learning about how you learn things when you grow independent... and how things go negative sometimes, like freeways taking friends

Yeah, it was Blake who used to be on the show. This song is ever so loverly. It paints that picture of two people {(lovers most likely)] making their way, well, away, just from everything as they drive on the empty highway in the country. How wonderful.

the picture it paints is so clear I don't think you need someone to explain what it is about

yes, but to distinguish one from the other, this one is referred to as "Salute Your Shorts!"

I was so stunned when I made the connection between pinsky/joey the rat and Blake... Who would've thought two child actors would end up being in an incredible indie rock band together?! The song is fantastic, but I agree it pretty much decribes itself.

This is one of my favorite Rilo Kiley songs, I'm surprised no one else has commented. The pictures that it paints in my head are really nice.

It's weird because usually I don't like Blake's voice. In fact, sometimes I make snarky comments to my CD player when one of his songs comes on. But on this song he sounds good. So, I guess it's about two teenagers who were driving around in the girl's car, and they got stuck somewhere and stayed for a few days and had a really idyllic time. But they had to leave, and this happened a long time ago. Since then something bad has happened to the girl, and the guy is losing his feelings of connection to her. He doesn't even feel sad anymore about whatever happened to her. It's awfully depressing, I have to say.
