| for me the song is entirely about her pregnancy. she feels it's time for her to become "more adventurous", and even if it goes against her religion, she's going to have the baby out of wedlock. the man wants to do the "brave" thing and marry her, she wants to say yes but it's like she can't, because she would only be doing it in agreeance with her religion, but it's not really what she wants. "get loved, make more, stay alive" sums up life. you live to procreate. "let me be loved" and "at least we'll be loved" i think is referring to the love the baby will have for her and for them, and that's all she really needs, not marriage. | |

| she's not a lesbian... however the 'other' songs that some of you are referring to... if you pay attention, she doesn't sing it as a love ballad to her lesbian lover, but rather, she sings them from a guy's point of view... and with that said... i think the song speaks for itself, and you are devling in too deep, she's saying that becasue she's pregnant doesn't mean that they have to get married, that like someone mentioned, she's afraid that the marriage will ruin their relationship, because the child has already put strain in a complicated situation... i mean i really can't explain it, but i think the song says exactly what it says, real love of choosing to be together is more important than believing in marriage to save grace... idk... i'm just a loser!!! | |

| There could be lots of different ways to interpret to this song. To me, it seems like the song is just trying to say that all you need is to be loved, and if you loved somebody so much you would sacrifice everything, heaven, money, all the material things you really don't need (heaven part I would need, but maybe it was meant to be an exaggeration). YOu just need to be loved and to love somebody, and also make some babies, let them experience love . Great song. (I don't think Jenny Lewis is a lesbian) | |

| sac8b... definately not about being lesbian. and she hasnt said as much in her other songs because youre not listening to them right. "a man/me/then jim" takes different perspectives. each verse is through the eyes of a man, her, and then jim. the part where you think shes gay is really jim talking to his old love. i think the title of the song sums up the meaning... when things dont go your way be brave and be more adventurous and take it. | |

| I agree with "And if I get pregnant I guess I'll just have the baby" being a great lyric. I think it's because, most people I know, myself included, if we were to get pregnant we'd freak thinking what we were going to die. But she says simply, well I guess I'll just have it and hope for the best. Many people have a hard time answering that question, but she makes it seem easy. My favorite line, by far, is 'let me be loved'. I suppose because I think the very same quite often | |

| This is ridiculous. This is about gay marriage. Jenny is a lesbian (she has said as much in othe songs), and this is a promise that her love need not be validated by the government (by which she would incur "profits") nor the church ("kingdom up above") for it to exude love. The only anomaly to this interpretation is "have the baby"; can anyone place this? | |

| In my opinion it's like she's saying the only thing you really need is love, and true love needs sacrifice, so she's giving up heaven, and money, all for love. Besides, about marriage, well, I think she really wants to say "yes", but at the same time, she doesn't want anything to confirm her love, she wants it to be pure, limitless, that why she's trying to nod her head but it's like she's got a broken neck. There is something that stops her, and it's her point of view about love. If she says "yes", then she would be betraying her ideas. It's like "Ok, you know, we don't need anything else other than our love. Why should we be married? We love eachother, and that's it, we don't need any paper that certifies it" | |

| and if i get pregnant i guess i'll just have the baby - best line. don't know why. the song is all about how marriage is legalized prostitution. in simpler terms. i very much enjoy this song. she doesn't need a ring to know it's love. | |

| What a beautiful song. Jenny is telling us to get over stupid relationships and move on and better yet become "more adventurous." However, do not force love "let me be loved" such that love binds the marriage. This song represents a sort of atheist view that maybe love is greater than heaven. Something about recreation is in here too. Neat stuff. My favorite line: "thought about how we are all as numerous as leaves on trees and maybe ours is the cause of all mankind get loved, make more try to stay alive" | |

| So gorgeous. It sounds to me like Jenny is in two minds about getting married; she wants it as her "last testament", maybe because she thinks they'll be more accepted if they are married, especially if they have a baby. But she also says it's okay with her if they don't. I think she thinks marriage will ruin the love. | |

| She's not a lesbian. She's singing about getting pregnant. And I know lesbians do get pregnant, but in the song, it's implied as an accident or not planned ... which as far as I know, can't happen with two women. | |

| such a gorgeous song! it's about marriage and how it's the end of one life and the beginning of another. in this song she's saying that they don't need to be married to be able to love each other or have a life together or have a family. why should something legal come between them and love? at least that's how i think of it :P | |

| I do not think Jenny is a lesbian, if you don't listen to the lyrics well enough in A Man/Me/Then Jim then you may think that. I doubt I'm right, but to me, this song seems like it's about a couple. The guy is afraid to have sex, because he doesn't want to have a baby if they aren't married, because it'll look bad in the eyes of god and his family, but Jenny (or the women) isn't ready to get married yet, but she does love him. She's saying whatever happens, happens, she wants to be more adventurous. | |

| Actually when I heard this song it reminded me of gays. Jenny is not a lesbian and I'm pretty sure this song isn't about one since it mentions pregnancy and whatnot. But the way she talks about marriage and love reminds me of homosexual relationships. | |
