Pictures of Success
Another corrected/completed version of another tab. It was missing a lot of the ending
of the song. Questions and comments: jonlynch02@yahoo.com thanks.

the best Rilo song. its so transcendent and simple. it feels like what I see in every kid's eyes who are spacing out in class or listening to their ipods staring out into nothing or glazing over as they stare through the madding crowd of a party...its a song about those thoughts and feelings, behind those eyes, for me.

Rilo Kiley truly has a sound that's hard to put in a certain category. I like that about it, they keep me guessing. I can really relate to the lyrics that Jenny sings, although I have a harder time relating to Blake. PLUS... Rilo Kiley is the band that got me into Phantom Planet more than a year ago.

MEXICO CAN FUCKIN' WAIT FTW!!! I like that line because it sticks out. The way she says it, So blissful, but there's a solid harsh message. Anyone else notice that she's the best at swearing when she sings? It sounds so innocent and WOW! Anyways, This is my favorite song of all time. What really got me was the intro, And how PERFECTLY her voice fits in with the song. Everything is just calculated perfectly. And the ending is so different from the beginning. It's impacting. It's like she realized something, And broke down at the end and wanted to change.

I cannot get this song out of my head, no matter what I do. I think it's about growing up -- about what happens after you're out of college, when you're on your own...when you have to be a real adult and take care of yourself. At moments, you just want to quit everything. This band has an amazing sound and everyone should listen to them.

The end is so powerful. I sing along at the top of my lungs more times than I'd like to admit. I really like the line about folding in half easily when thinking of the pictures of success. It's true--it's really hard to compare yourself to what life is showing us... French films and all that jazz. I'm surprised there aren't more comments on this song...

For me this song is more about how people get so concerned with success and just getting more money that they forget to sit back and look at what they have. Like when Jenny sings, "When you're dead, in dress shirts and neck ties", it's kind of like, you've spent your whole life working, do you really want to die working? It makes me think of all of people I know who do nothing but eat, sleep, work and vacation. They never stop.

I feel like this song is just about trying to get your shit together like we all are, feeling scared just about life I think the way Jenny keeps repeating, "cuz im not scared" means she really is, but the whole when you're dead part kind of throws me off... maybe just about trying to get it togerther before that, you know with a ticking clock and also just feeling so owerwelmed "and it must be nice to finish...when your dead" idk but i love, love, love rilo kiley and and love when jenny lewis says "fuck" ...and mexico can fuckin wait theres something so thrilling about such a pure voice saying that, its really powerful...especially in "A Better Son or Daughter...great song
