Title: Black Masks and Gasoline
Artist: Rise Against
Album: Revolutions Per Minute (2003)
Instrument: Guitar
Tabbed by: anarchypeach (theused000@adelphia.net)
Tuning: Standard (EBGDAE)
Notes: Here's the tab, I'm 99% sure that the notes are correct, so far I've got
everything but the 4th chorus time (I'm having ahard time differentiating the two
guitar parts, if *anyone* knows how it goes, please e-mail me and you will be credited)
Also, throughout the whole song, 2 guitars are used, where one keeps playing the heavy
parts to keep the whole song heavy. However, it sounds absolutely fine with one guitar.
Anyways, in the tab E is equal to 11.
Have fun and enjoy, it's a great song to play.

to the song you should be able to figure it out pretty easily.)

Bridge (1st and 3rd time)
Note: During the bridge, in the first measure of the 3 G# powerchords, the little squeaky
effect between the chords is created by lifting your weight on thje string so you are
only touching it a little bit, then strike the low e. Add some distortion, and there you
have it.

| I'm always really disappointed when nobody posts their interpreted meanings on these boards. Stuff like " i dont care what it means it's still my favorite song by them | |

| Yes, the references to black masks and gasoline seem to connote black bloc anarchism, but it really reminds me of militant "ecoterrorism" in the vein of the ALF and the ELF . . . think arson. It also reminds me of the slogan so many groups like those mentioned use: "If not you, who? If not now, when?" But I definitely understand how someone could get the black bloc out of the black masks. Also, shallowXgrave, it is entirely erroneous to assume that because animal exploitation was common practice in the days of the Bible's origin, that it is God's will that humans exploit animals. It is necessary to consider the social influences upon the actual text of the Bible; whether you believe God was truly the author is irrelevant. A book that did not support the values of the time would have been violently opposed and most likely ammended to reflect these values. Also, hypothetically, if a "superior" life-form began eating us and we were relegated to a lower position in the food chain, would you consider this justifiable for this "superior" life-form simply due to its standing in the food chain? You must consider morals rather than falling back upon this cold adaptation of darwinist ideology (an adaptation that shares most of its premises with the even colder idea of social darwinism). Food for thought, if you will. | |

| anarchy wouldn't work unless people were truly willing to value freedom over security. and i have a suggestion to you all: read two or three of the books in the liner notes then listen to this song. i did. it starts to make alot more sense. | |

| there's such a thing as reading too deep. instead read whats right in front of you, I think it's a song about not conforming, this world ISNT something that you must impress. secondly it's also saying that, ya there IS a need for revolution. I don't know about you, but i agree. p.s. STOP CONDEMING ANARCHY. who cares what ppl think anarchy is, who cares if they're posers, some people say anarchy is peace, some say diffrent, then some pplsay there's different kinds of anarchy. I say belive what you want, I belive in anarchy, and it IS the only way the earth will last... | |
