| I think this song is about changing everything wrong with the world. When you have had enough of everything wrong you are only halfway there, the second half is to make a difference and change things. | |

| ps - the speaker is also looking for inspiration/motivation to go on, even when they think they are at their limit. "i need a reason," a reason to go on past the supposed limit | |

| this song is about asking questions i dont think these questions even have to be about anything rather just realizing something is not how it should be then deciding that you're going to do something about it taking a stand then second guessing yourself and needing a reason to keep going thats halfway there id like to know how to get to the other half or even what "there" is such a great song. anyone know who or hes wasted time he spent "ashamed i called you friend" ? | |

| For the majority of the song, it seems as though the opposition is directed towards government or authority, but the last few lines are clearly directed at a personal friend. It just doesn't seem right to me. It makes me think I've been looking at this song the wrong way or that I've missed something. | |

| 1 - i agree with jujubeparade, the last part of the song throws me off 2- i do not think that the message of this song is that deciding to take action is half the battle, it seems completely the opposite. this song seems very pessimisstic, but realistic as well. when you think you've reached your limit, when you can't take it anymore, THAT is when you're only halfway there - you still have just as much left to accomplish as you have done to make you think you're at your limit. when "enough is enough," you're really still only haflway through the battle, leaving yet another half to go. | |

| This is a great song...helped me get through IB exams. I agree with the concept of being pushed around, the drive that someone has whenn the realise that they must make change takes them the other half way. | |

| I think the song is about being pushed around. It's about the moment you realize something has to be done, that you need to stand up for yourself, then you're already halfway there.. You've won half the battle already.. | |

| I think that many people here have it backwards. Rather than being about the first half being the hardest, or being pushed around, it is about pushing yourself. The main theme of the song is indomitable spirit. The ability to carry on beyond your normal limits. Basicaly, when your body screams to quit, and you don't see any way that you can carry on, you find that extra little bit and push yourself that extra distance. Everyone has this ability, but it is damned hard to exercise. If you feel that it is time to quit, then you are probably only halfway to your actual breaking point. It is the people who can make use of that second half, and go that extra distance that can really do something in this world. To me, this meaning was very clear very quickly. I have lived by these words for a long time now, long before I had heard this song. I also like the links with Give It All there. If you wanted to, you could see this one as someone deciding not to give up and to push themselfs further, but not knowing their direction. They can see what is wrong, but not how to address it. In Give It All, their path and drive are both clear, and their lifes have direction and meaning. | |
