| the one verse is completely wrong. its..... "An obvious disinterest, a barely managed smile A deep nod in agreement, a status quo exile I shoot my obligations, I miss all your deadlines I started quitting early, and fucking up my life" I love this song. The only song that compares to this one is The Approaching Curve. | |

| Made a few small corrections to this song. This is a great song, one of my favourites of the new CD, seems to me the chorus is saying that you're not the only one who has problems, we all have them, but how we deal with them is "what makes us who we are" | |

| It's also basically saying "suck it up". It's a big STFU against all those little emo bitches and just people in general who like to just talk all the damn time about how hard their life is... How TERRIBLE their problems are, oh-what-am-I going to do, god my life is so hard, I'm so dark and depressed, etc.... Basically "stand in line"= STFU and suck it up, we ALL have problems, life is a bitch and we all have to deal with it------> "how we survive is what makes us who we are" That's the key lyric there. | |

| ^Agree again, the line "Lifes to yous been less than kind, so take a number stand in line", sums up this song saying sure your life may not be completely in order but you are definately not the only one. | |

| This was the second Rise Against song I heard {following Swing Life Away}. I adore this song. The meaning comes across loud and clear. It tells you to keep living life because there will always be someone worse off than you ~ and also in a way that you shape your own reality and life is only what you make of it. | |

| ^ Agreed. I think it's kind of saying how people tend to have a 'the other man's grass is always greener' type of mentality. Like we see everyone else who seems to be so happy and they have it so great and it must be so easy being them, it's not fair, etc. But in the end, everyone goes through hardships and problems in their own lives, you just have to learn how to deal with it somehow, because that's all there is. | |

| I can relate to this song in that I hear so many people complaining about how their lives are so hard and that other people are lucky not having to get through what they have. What they don't realise is that everyone has the same fucking story, only slightly different problems and different names. It's "how we survive that makes us who we are", not the things that are thrown at us. People throw lemons, we make lemonades. Most people just complain about how hard he lemons were thrown and how the lemons made a bump on their heads. Life isn't meant to be perfect. It wouldn't be meaningful if it was perfect. We wouldn't know the meaning of happiness if we were given everything. True people go through true difficulties. Survivors solve problems, not complain about them. | |
