Jumpy - you've got a real appreciation for them thar Stones/Mick. Thars gold in them thar songs! I agree. Sometimes a perceptive outsider with talent can tap into pathos better than a reasonably smart person in the middle of it. They hit this one with form and content deader on than squished armadilla!

He's not A Redneck, my dad can sound just like him on this song, (me too). But I'm not a redneck.

It's just funny......and interesting Mick's call on the different type of woman.....and really who would know better. The Black Girls line is unnessary obviously, but it sums up the attitude of the Some Girls sessions..........F You!

God knows where you lot are getting the American vibe from, I always thought it had more of an Irish feel to it with the fiddle and the melody.

Me too. Jesse Jackson doesnt like this song but I do. And I dont like Jesse Jackson. There's an odd love/hate triangle there.

It's a love song. In my mind, it's a couple of poor kids in industrial London, and the guy found a girl he's willing to wait in the rain for...a sight for sore eyes. wouldn't mind a bit of that myself... ha ha. definitely kick ass

Could this song get radio play today? Remember what happened to Reverend/football player Reggie White when he made similar comments about ethnic groups?! The Stones, god bless them, have a license to say whatever whenever. I have free speech envy!

I find it amazing that a 24 year old British 'lad' could have such a great understanding of rural American life. He obviously learned it from old blues but my God what a great job of putting it all together to form his own songs.

I suppose there is nothing in the lyrics that indicates that it's in America. Maybe you're right. Maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusion.
