| I think this song is about a guy who's waiting for a girl he's in love with to commit, but she's too scared so he's asking if he should go fast or slow and if her fear will "end at least" And so he's waiting... | |

| I just lost a girl to the small town that she's decided to move back to. I want to stick my head in the oven, but I can't 'cause I don't know why...'cause I guess I'll choose living over dying and not getting to love anyone else. But, anyway, aside from that...I've been listening to this song off and on, all day. I would really like this song to be about a girl (like the guy who posted a similar inkling, before me). But I think it's about yourself. About waiting to see what comes out of yourself when those really trying times come, or as I think Mick put it, "Stand up coming years, escalation fears, oh yes we will find out." I think it's an incredibly great song. I'm not a great Stones fan, just 'cause I've never really taken the time to be one, but this has got to be one of the great songs out there (by any artist). And, yes, I came to it by way of Rushmore. That whole soundtrack is great, to me. I think Wes Anderson said that he intentionally went with a whole "British invasion" thing in compiling the song manifest for that movie. Not to get too far off subject, but my favorite part to that whole movie is when Max climaxes with, "What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you! You hurt my feelings. I wrote a hit play!" And then he relinquishes and says, "And I'm in love with you." I'm in hell. I miss Gina. I am waiting. | |
