| kfe2, morphine is one of the cheapest drugs out there and hospitals aren't afraid of wasting it... aside from that i like your interpretation. to add to it, I think it's about a heroin addict that gets into an accident and switches his addiction to morphine (they have very similar chemical structure and could be plausible) and the morphine takes him to a calm death. | |

| To me this song is about a man that was in a serious car crash (or some kind of accident) and has just woken up in the hospital bed. He realizes that his injuriess are very serious and will probably die before the night ends. All he has left is the morphine drips but as the song says he only has a little left since he is dying and the hospital doesn't want to waste the medicine. | |

| My sister's name is Morphine, and my cousin...yep, you guessed it, Cocaine...this song has nothing to do with drugs. it was written about my family. Drug reference?...shiiiit. Why are you devil worshippers trying to tie this harmless family song to drugs? You guys are too much! (If you read between the lines, there's nothing there but white space, Silly) | |

| I also read that Marianne Faithfull wrote the lyrics to this song and released a dreary depressing version of it before the Stones did it on Sticky Fingers. It wasn't a hit (if you'll pardon the pun). The Stone's Sticky Fingers version is superior to Faithfull's but writing was credited solely to Jagger and Richards. The worry was that Faithfull wrote the song before her heroin-fuelled problems started ! And it's a song about someone in agony in a hospital waiting for painkillers. The cause of the hospitalisation is unclear - it could be an accident or an overdose. | |

| The guy is lying in bed, all doped up on Morphine. He is probably a drug addict. This song was also put on the "Sticky Fingers" album.. This album seemed a bit drugy. Although this song is heavily related to drugs, it is still a good song. | |
