i think what he means by "you'll be back milking cows before you cash the check" is that a popstars career is so short lived that they are back to being a nobody before they know it

I totally agree! I saw them last night, at the Weezer show, and talked to Louie for a little bit. I went to see Rooney and Dashboard, and I was soooo impressed with Rooney. Frigging awesome song.

this song takes lyrics from everyone from britney to n*sync... but to the person who didn't understand about the milking cows thing... it means these small town people are getting big in the music biz, but fading away before they really ever amount to anything...

this song sounds like a direct attack on pop stars of yesterday... "you've hit me again one more time" refers to britney's spears' "hit me baby one more time." the "bye bye bye" is from Nsync. "you're nothing but a bitch on strings." nsync had that thing with the marionettes... and the "you'll be back milking cows" is referring to Britney Spears, who is from the southern US, making fun of her like she is a hillbilly. anyway, sounds like they hate them. :D

"Along with the "Hey digital" line? " Well, Deathcab4Chrissy(great name, DCfC rules), this is just a wild guess but Nsync has a song called Digital Getdown, but I might just be reaching, lol.

the "hey digital" line I think is a reference to the fact that music these days is inundated by digital modifications, that there is less and less real talent involved. Mass manipulation of music to market. And the milking cows thing, a reference to the idea that a lot of the popstars are small town kids with no real training or real experience, they just got a lucky break that's going to go fast...
