I know there's something in the wake of your smile.
G A Bm
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yea.
G A Bm
You've built a love but that love falls apart.

Your little piece of heaven turns too dark.

Listen to your heart when he's calling for you.

Listen to your heart there's nothing else you can do.

I don't know where you're going and I don't know why,
Bm G A Bm
but listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye.
Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile.
The precious moments are all lost in the tide, yea.
They're swept away and nothing is what is seems,
the feeling of belonging to your dreams.
Listen to your heart...

And there are voices that want to be heard.

So much to mention but you can't find the words.

| I fell into an odd love with this song. I, too, am a sucker for a heartfelt vocal and a bit of acoustic guitar or piano (Amy Lee's "You" and Evanescence "My Immortal"). I was listening to the radio and it came on, and my mom told me it was an old song from the '90's... and I was almost in tears because it reminded me of about any relationship I'd ever had. Not necesssarily a relationship with a significant other, but one with a friend or relative... mom, dad, sister. To me, it's describing that time when things just get... messy. And everything's confusing and kind of rough, and you aren't quite sure what to do, so before you make any decisions, listen to yourself, look inside yourself for the answer. You feel like you're going to go crazy, like your head'll burst, but you shouldn't let it. You alone know all the answers, you alone know what's best for you, so you should do what's best for you, but before you storm out that door or buckle under the pressure, listen to what your heart is telling you to do. Everything can be fixed, the broken and the shattered. And you can fix it. I don't know, but that's what I got out of it. Derned thing... almost making me cry. But it really is beautiful. | |

| I think the singer is telling another who is in love to listen to her heart and be with him if he's the one she is in love with. | |

| Song (and band) is incredibly awesome. However, it is almost totally pointless to describe the "meaning" of any Roxette song. Unless you're going to specifically point out the weird phrases they occasionally use (I attribute them to the fact that the band is Swedish), it's an exercise in futility due to the relatively shallow and straightforward nature of the lyrics. | |

| This is a religious song it seems. Many people think its romantic but it makes more sence that its religious. The term Listen to your heart is like listening to the concience that God has given to you and it even says there is nothing else you can do. i.e God has power over all things and you cannot do anything probably wouldn't want to for the emotion that God places in your heart. | |

| i love the piano in this song! tho, i'm a sucker for songs like these and piano type songs :D This song is so great, it's very beautiful. It's basically just saying listen to your heart before you can't go back, make sure this is what your heart wants rather than what you think you want.. | |

| I also like this song a lot, but when I think about it, it brings back a very sad memory from over half a lifetime ago. I was probably 12 or 13, riding the bus to school in the morning. Though I was in middle school at that time, we also picked up high school students along the way. I remember that we picked up this high school girl from her home along a dirt road, and she was crying violently. Apparently her cat had been run over by a truck just a minute before the bus came to her house. This song was playing on the radio in the bus exactly at that time, so I always associate it with that sad memory. | |

| I think this song is one Roxette`s best! To me the meaning is that you should follow your heart and not be led by what your mind or someone else might tell you. for example.... people around you might tell you a guy is not good for you, but you need to do what you feel inside yourself and "Listen To Your Heart" first. Basically decide weather YOU truly want to be parted. | |

| Another singer (D.H.T.?) did a remake of this song. I rememeber the first time hearing it. I bawled like a baby because it hits close to home but in a TOTALLY DIFFERENT WAY...You see, I knew this guy Wesley during my child/teenhood. We were pretty close friends and secretly went outon and off. Long story short I caught him with another guy. I was confused ("I don't know where you're going and I don't know why") because that was the last thing I ever expected but I accepted it. Wesley felt really bad and was about to dump the guy because of our nastey initial confrontation but after things calmed down I told him he needed to do what he feels in his heart is right. I havn't heard from him in years but i have heardfrom friends that they are still going out... I really loved (still love?) him too but I have learned to move on. | |
