| I think it's all about how everyone pictures love to be a perfect thing, but then when they actually experience it, they are surprised to realize that love is not everything it's made out to be. **And you will believe in love All all that its supposed to be But just until the fish start to smell And you're struck down by a hammer** | |

| It's funny -- I just realised -- the last relationship I was in, the guy asked me to be his girlfriend on Valentines Day and we broke up on April Fools'. (Not that that has anything to do with the song's meaning, per se...but it resonates with me because of it.) As far as song meaning, I think it's about relationships being built up in your head as some wonderful vital thing, and then once the glamour of it wears off, there's nothing to hold the people together. | |

| he wrote this song after a valentine's day party. he was just so fed up with the whole "love" thing, and felt that no one wanted him. that night he'd relieved some guy of his duty in a kissing booth, and when he was sitting there, no one came up. | |

| The video provides some great insight to this song. I saw it once in some grainy format on his website, it appears to show a bunch of womens' take on love and how it eventually destroys them. | |

| My take on this song is slightly similar to the post just above. I think the song is talking about how grand and glorious love and relationships are until you're not in one anymore. You'll believe in love, until you're struck down by a hammer. The hammer being a break up possibly. | |

| Those women are the main characters of operas--there's Carmen, Madame Butterfly, etc., all of whom die somehow because of love. | |

| "Let it all go by, looking at the sky, wondering of there's clouds and stuff in hell" this is making fun of how rediculous ppl get in relationships, with their oh aint life grand, and what they have as this idea of love isn't real. and you look at the first verse, february 14 to april fools day... saying that stars-in-your-eyes love only lasts a few months | |

| its kinda like a satire. Or that's how I see it. I knew about the whole reason he wrote it, it seems like he's making fun of the situation. Not his situation but this whole "love" thing, almost as an outsider. | |
