| thi song always gets me in a better mood about life for whatever reason. I think it's about life, living your own way by any means. How we will run how we will crawl...you sometimes can get where you're heading faster sometimes life gets more difficult and things slow you down. This song has got such a catchy and up lifting sound to it. | |

| I think it's about sending yourself on your own way. Get it? "Send me on my way" Then, "Well pick me up with a golden hand. I may tell you to run..." And THEN there's, "I would like to hold my little hand." Send yourself on your OWN way man. :-) | |

| Actually, wake_up_jeff, I believe '...you know what they say about the young...' are misheard lyrics. If you were to go to the official Rusted Root homepage [ http://www.rustedroot.com ] the lyrics, on the lyrics page, would read: I would like to reach out my hand (chant) . . . See you (chant) . . . Tell you to run . . . (Chant) Pick me up with golden hand (chant) . . . . See you (chant) . . . Tell you to run . . . (Chant) * I would like to hold my little hand How we will run . . . We will How we will crawl . . . We will I would like you to hold my little hand How we will run . . . We will How we will crawl Send me on my way . . . . (Chant) Send me on my way . . . . (Chant) Send me on my way . . . . (Chant) | |

| i agree that this song gets everyone in a good mood and everyone smiles when they hear it. But the meaning to it is somebody asking someone to let them go and do their own thing and live their own life and do things the way they want, as if the person is being held back or opressed by somebody else....that's why its the perfect song for matilda. great song | |

| My mother recently turned 50, and for her birthday we bought her "When I Woke." This song has been something of her mantra since. First of all, it's very catchy. Secondly, she's finally "On her way." After years and years of not having a unified direction in life, she finally got into a steady career, and everything is turning around. Finally! Actually, she knew the sister-in-law of one of the members.. I forget if she said the SIL was a member at one point... . I think so. Great group. Peace. | |
