Home R Ryan Cabrera Biography

Band Picture

Ryan Frank Cabrera (born July 18, 1982 in Dallas, Texas) is an American musician. He is managed by Joe Simpson, manager and father of pop singers Ashlee and Jessica Simpson. He is half- Colombian. Since November of 2005 he is now romantically involved with Australian singer Lisa Origliasso, one-half of The Veronicas. He has also hosting a reality dating television show on MTV, called "Score!"

Cabrera graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas in 2000. He went on to attend The University of Texas at Dallas for a year. While in college, he was the lead singer for the popular Dallas band Rubix Groove performing in such venues as Trees and The Gypsy Tea Room. In 2001, Cabrera went into the studio to record his own independent album, Elm St..

The response to the album was positive and prompted Cabrera to leave his band for good. He released his first major-label album, Take It All Away, on August 17, 2004, and it debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album is co-produced by Goo Goo Dolls lead singer Johnny Rzeznik.

In early 2004, Cabrera had become known for his up-tempo pop- rock single " On the Way Down", which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and number seven on the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream. "On the Way Down" was followed by Cabrera's second single, " True", and his third single, " 40 Kinds of Sadness". During "True"'s run on the radio, Ryan released a Spanglish version of this song in which the lyrics were in both English and Spanish.
