| I think this song is about Anthony leaving behind his normal life to go join Saosin. As far as I know the story, Anthony is from Philly, and Saosin from Cali. A friend told Saosin about Anthony, and they came to Philly to see if he could be their singer. The line: "Only you mark my words to get engaged in California" I think he is speaking to Saosin about joining their band and making music with them in California. That's the line that got me thinking. Also, "Smile, my only right to passage." I think he's talking about Saosin being his opportunity to be the singer he's always wanted to be, cause as we all know, he has been in many bands prior to Saosin, and still has been in many after Saosin. I always thought he said "And I'm sad, but you'll be gold on my bed." That's what I thought it sounded like in the acoustic. Oh well, just an idea. | |

| Taking back, overdone Free and safely -->the girl keeps bringing up the hard times in a relationship, to belittle what they had Souvenirs, out of style -->there's no point in needing souvenirs to relive their relationship Do it so, I'll be mad You’ll be gone --> she's saying things to piss him of and react so that she can leave looking like the "good guy" And I’ve said that you’ve been going upon On my bed. Tango with daddy, and separate only -->although in bed together, (possibly sex) - they were seperate in their hearts and intentions Smile my only Rights of passage. --->trying to motivate himself to move on Only you mark my words To get engaged in California -->...but he is reminded of a once happy time when they planned to be married in sunny california Don't say I’m the one you want to lose! -->pretty self explainatory | |

| andrewonfire. you're not hearing things. i hear him saying something inbetween those lines too. and yes, i'm pretty sure it's not about getting raped by his father. i think he's saying it to someone else, referring to himself as daddy. | |

| Ok, I did some research on this thing and I'm pretty sure of a few things. Firstly, I think the whole song is basicly like a eulogy for somebody. Not sure who yet. If I had to guess I would say his dad... But again, I'm not sure. It sounds like the singer has unfinished business with whoever died. | |

| when i first heard the acoustic version, i thought it was like, a dad talking to his kids, like he and his wife were getting a divorce and the kids had to choose which parent they wanted to stay with, and he was like, "don't leave me, stay with me" (don't say that i'm the one you want to lose). and i also thought it was "tangle with daddy" like, wrestling for one last time... but i was wrong. | |

| From an interview with anthony... Anthony: Yeah “3rd Measurement in C” for me, personally that song goes from about a relationship with my mom, to meeting these guys for the first time. And having everybody come out here and get together. Beau: like “get engaged…” (song lyric) Anthony: Yeah in California. My songs just range from different emotions, it’s just really personal. see for yourself at http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=23998 | |

| In between 'Only you mark my words' and 'To get engaged in California'...He says 'Upon the stage you strike off'. And im pretty sure that 'And I’ve said that you’ve been going upon On my bed.'...is completely wrong It's 'And I'm sad that you'll be gold upon, gold in my veins'...unless I have a completely different version of the song. | |
