i agree with playsavestheday in saying that the line could be about alcoholism. im a recovered alcoholic and can definately relate to that, although the rest of the song seems a bit too far fetched to place it all on alcoholism. It seems to me that he has lost someone. Someone close died and there was nothing either of them could do about it. someone very close to him and he feels their presence still, comminucating with the remnants of what they left behind. there was alot of unfinished business at the time, and since the person is gone, the situation cannot change, and qwuesitons must remain unanswered. if u read it with that idea in mind, i feel it makes alot more sence.

I think it's about how he's trying to get someone to believe in God but he doesn't have all the answers and that's how he's not strong enough and they keep asking questions he can't answer and he's getting frustrated that they just can't accept his beliefs or it could be about how Anthony is seeking these religious questions to another person and it's their perspective. It's seems like Writing about other peoples perspectives is getting pretty popular so I wouldn't doubt it especially since the song Seven Years seems to be religious.

"If only I had the strength, you could believe in something 'till the end." That's what it sounds like to me. Either that or "If only I had things straight, you could believe in something 'till the end."

The one with Cove starts off with the short drum beats and palm mutes on guitar. Anthony's voice sounds more "gruff" than Coves and he also does the scream kinda things at the chorus. It's quite easy to spot.

The more I try to understand this song, the more I feel like I'm getting an aneurism lol. If anybody feels confident in an answer to what this is all about, run it by me. If I had to guess, I would say it's about fans looking and asking for something from him that he can't give them. Maybe those fans are looking for meaning and some sort of message in the song. If that were true, then the confusing lyrics would make it that much cooler lol. I'm probably wrong though. :)

he feels bad about himself. he sees nothing good in himself. a girl loves him but hes too depressed to be in a relationship. she wont stop bugging him. flirts with him, all the bs. ive read that the end part confuses some.....well i saw diffrent lyrics but these go with the song, they mean she wanted him but she hooked up with a diffrent guy and now all he can d is smile cus now he realized how beautiful this girl is and now he cant ahve her... and now for my 2cents.... i hate the new singer, theres nothing wrong with him except that he cant sing like anthony...

phugazi, if that line were the only one in the song your interpretation could work.. but lines like "A riot grows and his eyes open up. I once believed I would set you in line. " If only I had the strength then maybe you could believe in something else. " could show differently. and anothony does write really hard to understand songs, and he won't even give the meanings away, so i think saythis was right;)

by the way, somebody posted on one of the other songs' page that they talk a lot about their religious beliefs in the music. Maybe that has something to do with it. I was sort of aiming at that with the last thing I posted.
