| I think that the song is NOT about a goldfish, but it's about a friend with a drug addiction. Oh, Penelope Are you filled with air? Swallowed oxygen that made you float up? (the singer's speaking of an addiction that killed his friend) Is it dropsy? Where your lungs swell? It's depressing me to see you struggle. (the writer is feeling depressed watching the person struggle with their addiction) Oh, Penelope Are you filled with air? Swallowed oxygen that make you float up? Is it dropsy? | at first i thought it was a girl drowning...then the floating, i thought it was a bloated up balloon girl like in harry potter, holding on to a pole (cause i thought he said POLE not BOWL) but then with the treasure and glass anchor, i thought of a fishbowl and then yeah a goldfish.. and it's suppose to be para MI corazon.. "for my heart" at first i thought it would be STOP my heart, cause of para...but apparently stop my heart would be parar mi corazon.. para has the same meaning in filipino..stop and for. my country was colonized by spain..just sharing.. oh why is there spanish in this song? | |

| The song is about a fish. I read an interview somewhere with Pinback and the guy was telling how people will try and gain insight from the song but it is actually just about a pet fish. He meant for it to be a sweet, heartfelt joke. Needless to say, it is my favorite song. | |
