Saosin (pronounced say-OH-shin) are a post-hardcore band from Newport Beach, California who originally formed during 2003 and partly consists of former members of the band Open Hand. They have currently only publicly released two EPs ("Translating the Name" and an EP distributed on the Warped Tour), however several individual completed songs have also been included on various compilations. These include "I Can Tell There Was An Accident Here Earlier" on a compilation album entitled "Music on the Brain Volume 1", "Bury Your Head" on an Atticus compilation entitled "Atticus... Dragging the Lake Part 3", "Mookie's Last Christmas" from the "A Santa Cause" compilation, and a remake of their previously recorded song "I Wanna Hear Another Fast Song" called "Sleepers" from the "Take Action! Volume 5" compilation.
The band have managed to gain large amounts of respect in the underground scene, and have a significant internet fanbase with the band's name resulting in over 56,000 hits in Google. They have recently signed to Capitol Records with a currently untitled album rumoured to be forthcoming in 2006, having formerly been on band-owned indie record label Death Do Us Part.
Despite the current lack of published material, several song demos can also be found on the internet, many having origins on their MySpace site. During 2004, when the band lacked a singer, many instrumental demos were released. During 2005, demos released to Capitol Records from their new record contract part of their new album has been leaked onto the internet.
During 2005, the band have been touring the United States and have become part of the Warped Tour 2005, and a video to the song "Bury Your Head" recorded during their tours has also been shown on Fuse extending the band's fanbase.
