I Will Remember You
lyrics by Sarah McLachlan; music by Seamus Egan
from the Brothers McMullen soundtrack
Please note:
-----------
I often found it hard to tell the qualities of the chords:
the basic chords are right, but whether they are 7th
chords, suspended chords, or chords with altered bass notes
are up to the player to interpret.
Some of the chord forms:
-----------------------
Asus2 Dsus2 E/A Dsus2/F# Bm7 E/G#
E--0---|--0---|--0--|--0-------|-(2)--|--x---|
B--0---|--3---|--0--|--3-------|--3---|--x---|

**Note** the Riffs A to M are tabbed at the end.

| This is like when I went into the Navy and I had to leave everyone behind. But most of all I had to leave the one that I was getting most attached to. She has seen me on my darkest days and always made them the best day of my life. And everytime I go to see her we talk about everything that went on from HS up until I left for the military. And we always leave each other after every visit, as much as we talked the whole time, we left with words that were left unsaid. All we have are memories. | |

| out of every song thats ever been made, this is the one that REALLY hits me, because i can relate to it so much. to me, its about being best friends with someone and loving them, but not making a move and then regretting it. nwo you think back and wonder every day what could of been had yto only taken your chance, and whether they will remember you in the furute because you will never forget them as they were everything to you. i agree with the first coimmment, its about being 'better to regret something you did do than something that you didn't' but i'd like to add another quote which i think really sums up this song to me, and why it relates and means so much to me and this same reason i why i want iot played at my funeral. "I always knew looking back on the tears would made me laugh, but I never knew looking back on the laughs would make me cry" | |

| My friend and coworker was murdered last January and we started a movement to create a new law in Minnesota and Wisconsin to make it a requirement that repetitive violent offenders register within the cities they live in and members of the community that live near "these people" are required to be notified in the mail and can look up the information online. This song has helped me heal slowly. This song means so much to me that to even think of writing exactly what it means to me, makes me want to break out in tears. I'm probably one of Sarah's biggest fans and I have been since 1996 but this song takes on a new meaning with all of the hard work my group has been through. If you want to see just how much this song means to me, please visit our media page and view the slideshow I have. I have I WILL REMEMBER YOU as the song. http://www.leahs-law.com/mediapage.html | |

| i think this song is about realizing how much people take thier lives for granted. after you lose someone, i think it is an eye opener. dont take your life for granted. "weep not for the memories." memories are great, but we cant live in the past. of course you are always going to remember those who were lost, but they wouldnt want you to waste your life away. Before my grandma died of cancer she requested no funeral, but instead asked us to hold a "party" to celebrate her life. She didnt want us to grieve for her or be sad, she just wanted us to remember her as she was and look back on all our good memories we had of her. | |

| My favourite part of the song is: "I'm so afraid to love you, but more afraid to loose Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose" It always seems like when your trying to love someone, your pass gets in the way and you just can't. Those old hurts and insecurities won't let you trust them, and you fall apart. And then being afraid to loose someone, it seems like everyone knows how that feels. Not wanting to accept to possibility of rejection by giving yourself to them. Life's so complicated and I love how this song just seems to take on meaning in every context. Beautiful. She doesn't get enough credit for her work. | |

| There are songs written for graduations, like that Vitamin C song, songs written for weddings, like Lonestar's "Amazing," but few songs written for funerals. This would have to be that song. | |
